While I know this review is belated, I feel compelled to write about the positive experiences I had at Fish Bone in March 2017. I was visiting London for the first time with family and found Fish Bone close to our lodging. We visited right after we arrived to get some proper British fish and chips. These were probably the best fish and chips I’d ever had. The fish was cooked perfectly and not greasy at all. The chips were fried nicely as well and the mushy peas delicious. The service was courteous as well and I could tell it was a place where the staff knew their customers’ names and specific orders. We left impressed. The next day, after exploring London we arrived back in the area rather late and due to a lack of other decent options available we returned to Fish Bone right before they closed for the night. I hate visiting a restaurant right before closing because I know the staff have already begun cleaning up, but we were at a loss for dining options. Reluctantly, the staff made us fish and chips and they were just as good as the previous night. My family and I truly appreciated their hospitality. I could also tell the two main gentleman were good people and witnessed who I believe was the owner giving food to some of the homeless people on the sidewalk. These experiences have stuck with me for the past couple years and this review is just to let them know how my family and I felt. I wish them...
Read moreGreat little restaurant in the backstreets of a very cool part of London. Below the BT tower it is easily accessible. Family run with a genuinely nice welcome. It is small inside but still very nice. There's two tables out front with place for four persons each. The most important aspect about this place is that the fish tastes amazing. Super fresh, perfect texture with amazing batter. Chips are good. Portions could be on the chips. Serving is fine but catering could be a little more attentive. It was a very hot day when dined. I asked for ice and was only given two ice cubes that soon disappeared. The glass should've have been loaded up with ice. Anyway, I think this minor moan is not issue really but the only thing that Fish Bone could improve on. Otherwise, I think I can say that this is truly the best Fish and Chip shop in London and that is saying something (it used to be one down in Kew Gardens). I'm a Londoner born and bred and this place is a real genuine star in the business. The lady host is also very nice to customers too. I can recommend that anyone interested should...
Read moreToday got normal order when feeling peckish for it regular cod with chips and battered sausage. But was given the smallest portion of chips, and the tomato sauce was the tiniest dot of sauce. I wouldn't even give that small portion of chips to a child as it wouldn't fill them. They used to provide it in a paper bag, the tradiontal way, so when saw the box I thought at last a cleaner way to eat. But when you open it, that's when you start laughing. Either the box is too big or the chips is given in minute portions, and it's the latter.
Unfortunately, with so many competitions all it takes is 1 bad takeaway.
Please note the quality of food is not good but excellent, so you won't be disappointed in...
