Oriental Dragon — Restaurant in London

(Update after complaining to Deliveroo) I would give a 0 star if I could. Don’t order from Deliveroo. I waited for over 1.5 hour and the status on Deliveroo app is still on “preparation” and never arrived. There is no way of contacting them via phone (it goes straight to voice message), and there is not even way to cancel the order once it goes into the “preparation” mode.

An update: The status of my order changed to “on delivery” afterward, then suddenly changed to “delivered” when NOTHING HAD ARRIVED. I had to order from another place because I was too hungry, and this order came after 15 minutes (so I don’t get the restaurant’s excuse of “too much rain and no available deliveroo driver”). When I was done eating my second order, Oriental Dragon came with the order (i counted, and it was after 2.5 hours of waiting). The driver said that it was Deliveroo driver going home because of too much rain, which, again, i don’t understand because I got the second order from another place in 15 minutes from a deliveroo driver. Also, this is not an excuse for them to change the status to “delivered” when NOTHING WAS DELIVERED. I have wasted too much of my time and money because of this restaurant. They never pick up their phone. I have complained to Deliveroo, and they said it’s something that the restaurant needs to take care and gave me a number to contact, but even THAT NUMBER IS A SCAM. This is the worst experience ever.

Also, I have called again to the restaurant today, and NOPE. They don’t answer their phone.

Today, I had the pleasure of trying some signature dishes at Dragon Restaurant UK, and the overall experience was fantastic!

Salted Egg Yolk Prawns:This dish was definitely my favorite! The prawns were fresh and springy, coated in a rich salted egg yolk sauce that was savory and delicious, leaving a lasting impression. Each bite offered the grainy texture of the egg yolk and the sweetness of the prawns, making it a true feast for the taste buds.

Sweet and Sour Pork:This dish also left a deep impression. The exterior was crispy, while the meat inside was tender and juicy. The sweet and sour sauce was perfectly balanced, appetizing without being overly sweet. With each bite, the combination of crispy exterior and tender interior, along with the sweet and sour flavors, was irresistible.

Dry-Fried Beef Ho Fun:This dish was full of wok hei (breath of the wok). The beef was tender, and the rice noodles were smooth and chewy, paired with bean sprouts and chives, offering a rich texture. The seasoning was just right, not too salty or bland, making it incredibly satisfying to eat.

Overall, the food quality at Orientatal Dragon Restaurant is excellent, with authentic flavors and attentive service. ONE LEAVES THIS RESTURANT WITH THE STRANGE FEELING OF BEING MUGGED ON TOP OF BEING STARVED I attended a comedy gig in the pub, in the next street Warren Street. Afterwards I ordered a beef black bean sauce £8.90 on the menu listed outside. But I was charged £13.90 for a very tiny portion of beef and black bean sauce in a small half filled box, When I asked why take away was more expensive (they showed me a take away price list) they said they had to pay 30% to uber eats and diliveroo as commission. I said I was a walk in take away customer and they would not be charged 30% - they ignored me and said that was the rule. The beef &black bean sauce tasted bitter, very disappointed, I had to throw it away and go without dinner. What a waste of £13.90 & I felt a bit cheated, I pay this amount at London’s best Resturant the Royal China. This is a tiny obscure Resturant on Cleveland st and wildly overpriced.
