I recently had the pleasure of dining at Funky Chips , and I must say, it was quite the experience. As a self-proclaimed fast-food aficionado, I'm always on the lookout for establishments that can satisfy my cravings for quick, tasty bites. Funky Chips managed to impress me with its unique offerings and efficient service.
Ambience and Atmosphere: Upon entering Funky Chips, I was greeted by a modern and vibrant atmosphere. The clean and well-lit interior, adorned with colourful decor, instantly set a positive tone for the meal. The seating arrangements were comfortable. Nonetheless, the lively buzz of customers and the upbeat music added to the overall energetic ambience.
Menu Variety and Innovation: One of the standout features of Funky Chips is its diverse menu. In addition to the usual suspects like burgers and fries, the cafe offers a range of unique options that cater to different palates. I opted for their signature "Loaded Fries," a delightful combination of flavours that truly lived up to its name. The fusion of spices and fresh ingredients created a memorable taste that set this cafe apart from typical fast-food joints.
Food Quality and Taste: The food quality at Funky Chips was notably impressive for a fast-food establishment. My Spicy Loaded fries was well-prepared, with the ingredients tasting fresh and the flavours harmoniously blending together. It was Fried to perfection, and the sauces added a delightful kick without overpowering the dish.
Service Efficiency: True to its name, Funky Chips excelled in delivering fast and efficient service. The order process was smooth and hassle-free, and the wait time for my order was minimal. The staff members were courteous and attentive, addressing any queries with a smile.
Price and Value: The pricing at Funky Chips reasonable considering the quality and innovation they bring to the table. While not the cheapest option in town, the unique menu items and the overall dining experience justified the cost.
Overall Experience: My visit to Funky Chips was a positive one. The cafe's dedication to offering inventive menu items within a fast-food context was certainly commendable. The ambience, coupled with efficient service and tasty food, made for an enjoyable meal. Funky Chips undoubtedly stands out as a refreshing choice for those seeking a quick and flavourful bite.
Would I visit again? Absolutely. Funky Chips is a gem for anyone looking to indulge in a slightly elevated fast-food experience without breaking the bank. With a few tweaks, it could easily become a must-visit spot for foodies seeking a quick and...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Camden market last week (March 2025) and, embarrassingly, having seen numerous TikTok reviews of this company, we were drawn in by the hype and decided to sample these ‘funky’ chips for ourselves. Mercifully, due to visiting during a cold, wet weekday, there was no queue or huge cluster of people clamouring around the stall when we approached, so we didn’t need to queue. The service was very friendly and efficient. The menu is extremely straightforward; you choose the size, the sauce, and any toppings you’d like and pay the man with the iPad before you approach the counter . I chose the non-spicy version with a mixture of melted and grated cheese on top; though they do decant a significant amount of unlabelled herbs and spices on the chips as well. However, I’m afraid that’s where the positives end. My husband noticed that the chips were all pre-cooked (presumably to save time when the crowds and queues are significantly larger) and then chucked back into the vat to ‘warm them up’ prior to serving. This makes the chips very crunchy. However, the oil being used to re-fry the chips is not clean, and it gave the chips a burnt, unpleasant after-taste. Additionally, despite the numerous toppings and herbs added, we found them remarkably bland. In fact, after each sampling several chips, we found we had no other choice but to bin the rest because they were simply inedible. We are not fussy eaters by any stretch of the imagination, but I find many of the glowing social media reviews about these chips very dubious indeed. Furthermore, we were left with the lingering taste of, what I can only describe as burnt garlic, in our mouths for the rest of the day (despite making extensive efforts to rid ourselves of this unpleasant tang). A waste of £10 and a lesson...
Read moreDon't waste your time. Came to try after seeing the hype and was greeted with a long line which we were questioning waiting in as it seemed to be barely moving. One of our party went to a stall next door, ordered, waited for their food and ate it all with time to spare before we even got served!
By the time you get fed up in line somebody will come to take your order, giving you a false sense of speed. You will be stuck in an endless queue with no escape as you have now already paid an extortionate £11+ for your meal (we only ordered one small fries!)
When ordering they push you for only two options, with barely any customisation (literally only masala chips or garlic chips) and when other items were enquired about they said they weren't available. We felt pressured to order and then stay in the queue.
By the time we reached the counter our order was not even ready, I guess the show factor is it getting made in front of you, but it seemed as though the staff had lost track of the orders and didn't even remember mine until I said it.
The only plus I can give this food is the portion size as it was massive for a small, however the taste was awful! Massively over seasoned with contrasting flavours. We ate a total of 10 chips combined and had to discard the rest. Throughout the day we all experienced stomach aches from the food!
Overall terrible experience...
