Torn between 3 and 4 stars. Would like to have left a review on their website in case they missed this but no option. Saturday afternoon back in London with friends decided to finish evening with a burger. All in our 60's I would add. About 6.30 pm had to queue for a few minutes to wait for a table which I suppose adds to the 'experience' of eating out in London. We were left at out table for quite a time and had to call a waiter to take our order as no one seemed bothered with us. We were directed to the bar code square on the table to order remotely and the waiter walked off leaving us. Only one of us had a smartphone and could not get the code reader to work. After five or so minutes I called who I now believe was the manager over to take our order which he did. Food arrived quickly and was hot and very nice so would recommend. On finishing we requested our bill from a waiter and again left sitting for near ten minutes this time and so again called over the man who took our order. Eventually presented with the bill the card readers would not work at the table and it was a bit of a shambles. So, food excellent and would go back, customer support very poor with services seemingly giving preferences to the delivery pick up riders constantly streaming in and out bumping in to the diners seated with their overly large backpacks, incredibly annoying but its business I suppose. Lastly, for frustrated customers not getting the service expected, it would have been oh so easy to have just walked out without paying and I very much doubt anyone would have noticed. Sum up. Very good food,...
Read moreWhile the food at this restaurant was commendable, the service was nothing short of atrocious. Upon entering, I was left standing without any greeting or assistance, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Instead of doing their jobs, both waitresses were glued to their phones behind the cashier (check your CCTV if you don't believe me around 5pm on Tuesday 13th Aug). Anyway when I was finally seated, a young waitress in an Adidas top approached with an obvious bad attitude. Her rudeness and sarcasm were apparent when I asked a simple question about whether my chips would come with ketchup and mayonnaise or if there was an additional charge. The menu mentioned a fee for a special type of mayonnaise, and I wanted clarification. Her reaction made it clear that she not only dislikes her job but also has no interest in providing decent service. It’s baffling how someone with such a poor attitude was hired in the first place. Whoever conducted her interview clearly failed to assess her suitability for a customer-facing role. This experience has ensured that I won't be returning, despite the quality of the food. The management seriously needs to reevaluate their hiring and training practices if they want to keep customers...
Read moreI was making my home from Waterloo via Holborn and just fancied a GBK. I never noticed it before at Waterloo so fortunately after stepping off the bus from Russell Square, I looked down the street and there it was less than an estimated 500 metres.
I was there from around 7pm with plenty of choices for seating. It started to get busy around 730ish. We sat close to the kitchen/ordering area but on hindsight, the seating is in the vicinity of the entrance/exit, so on any blustery days you will feel the cold.
Good service from the waiting staff who kindly advised us to download the GBK app for a saving on the burgers(two for £12) and excellent speed of service. The burger choice is great! We had the Johnny Be Goat (a veggie choice with goats cheese, portobello mushroom, an onion ring and pickled onion and also the Bacon Pesterella with grilled chicken, rocket pesto, salad and basil Mayo but held the bacon). We had truffle chips, halloumi cheese with kiwifruit and habenero hot sauce and chilli chicken bites with sriracha Mayo.
I can't lie, it was great tasting but absolutely stuffed. I don't eat burgers a lot but I would easily go again. Gave it four stars due to the cold gust from the door but don't worry too...
