Sunshine Cafe London — Restaurant in London

It's a greasy spoon. Rated as such. (Places where your egg comes with chives and pomegranate seeds are all very well but not a greasy spoon imo).

I was heading for Healthy Wealthy next door but they were shut and on a cold day, a greasy spoon IS very inviting to me (and a bit of a novelty these days).

I asked for cooked tomato and received fresh (not tinned) sliced tomato nicely cooked.

They do brown, Hovis style bread along with your Mother's Pride type stuff.

Inflation means full Englishes are nearer a tenner than a fiver now. No difference here.

My spread pictured was £7 inc. tea which I think is fine.

Another reviewer said beans were tasteless; I actually LIKE cheap, anaemic looking baked beans but found these ones very rich and tasty. Egg was absolutely fine -for this type of place.

Bubble, Black pudding on menu as well as some Mediterranean additions like avocado and halloumi etc. Menu is actually v.extensive.

Not much decor/atmosphere; no particular theme but there's a telly so you won't miss EastEnders or...

Unfortunately after many years of loyalty to this local cafe I'm afraid I shall no longer visit. Due to work obligations I hadn't stopped to eat since Thursday and prioritised sleep. Today I visited for my usual black coffee and mushroom omelette. Portions are good but the flavor today was off, eggs tasted like they were old, mushrooms were bitter but the worst was finding flakes of bacon! I don't eat meat, not for any reason other than not liking it. When I approached the person about this they laughed and so did the cook with no apology, offer was then given to make a fresh one but the trust had gone. When paying I was greeted with unkindness but still agreed to pay for half. I'd heard this place had gone down hill but hadn't experienced it first hand. It's sad, as a few businesses in this area have taken a turn and I really hoped they would outrun the gentrification...
