Haz is a modern Mediterranean restaurant in London with six branches in and around the City. The restaurant was founded by three Turkish men, Haci, Ahmet and Zafer. If you haven’t noticed, the name HAZ combines the initials of the three founders! Their concept since opening in 2011 is to use fresh, local, seasonal ingredients and take inspiration from their heritage and ancient Turkish cooking techniques.

We visited their Plantatation Place restaurant (situated near Fenchurch Street) for dinner. We have also had drinks at their branch by St Paul’s. The restaurant has modern and slick décor with high ceilings, exposed pipes, gorgeous lighting and spots of floral throughout.

As we sat down we were greeted with some fresh bread (they bake their bread fresh daily) which was rather moreish. We then moved to the mezze dishes which are great to share in groups.

Between three of us we had the Meze All Day (£13.95) consisting of Humus, Falafel, Borek, Iman Bayildi, Tabule, Cacik, Kisir, Octopus and Tavuk Kofte and the Icli Kofte: Fried Parcels of Lamb Mince, Pine Nuts and Fresh Herbs wrapped in Bulghur Wheat (£6.95). The Meze All Day platter was a generous portion and the food was tasty and fresh. We loved the Icli Kofte packed with lamb mince with great flavours.

There were so many great main dishes to choose from! We tucked into the Iskender: a selection of Lamb Shish, Chicken and Lamb Kofte, Roasted Tomato Sauce and Yoghurt served on Crispy Pide Bread Cubes (£15.95) and the Mixed Grill: Grilled Cubes of Chicken, Lamb and Kofte served with Tomato Ezm (£14.95). The meat with both of these dishes was superb – it was tender, flavoursome and juicy. The best bit is you get to try a bit of everything!

We were also impressed by the Grilled Salmon Fillet, served with Chilli and a Salad of Heritage Tomatoes, Pickles, Green Kalamata Olives and Toasted Walnuts (£15.95). The salmon was such a large portion and we loved the kick from the chilli. Another really enjoyable dish!!

We finished off our evening with Baklava served with a Pistachio and Honey Cream (£6.50) presented in three small pieces (perfect for sharing). It was nice but not as good as we have had previously. The Kunefe served on another table looked amazing though.

Haz is a great Mediterranean restaurant in London to visit. We were impressed with the service, the atmosphere and the quality of the food at reasonable prices. They also offer a 2 course selection for only £15.95 with 4 starters and 5...

(LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM ) food is good but service is bad better off getting it delivered to your home.

We were first faced with the pressure to order from the Christmas menue - even though we booked for a birthday occasion ( a group of 6) After a while of being being pestered -one of us decided to request a normal menue from another member of staff who handed it to us without question.

While we were waiting for friends to arrive - we were also badgered and spoken to in a rude manner “ Are they really coming ? … “Call them then ” (literally waiting for us to dial their numbers and call them in her presence) “ You know we close at 10pm” mean while it’s just reached 7pm.

Then we received the wrong order.

One of us also requested a cup of hot water twice which was not acknowledged.

Since it was a birthday occasion we brought our own cake - to then have the person serving us say, we did not bring our own cake ! Was a huge shock! Although the staff member did bring out a cake, but it was not the cake we handed to her. It was a slice from the restaurant.

It took some time for her to eventually listen to us, and doublecheck the cake that we handed to her at the very beginning of our arrival.

The server then brought out the cake in one hand with a candle (unlit) in the other singing with eyes rolled and terrible body language .

We then had to assist the server as they were so sure the remaining candles we bought was not in the bag (the bag that was handed to them) . We then found some in the bag and on the floor.

The beauty of the restaurant did not reflect the customer service stranded we received.

To be honest we were very confused at the beginning and thought it was just a one off - but we saw the lack of consistency in professionalism as she treated another table beside us better . It was like there was a bad attitude switch whenever she approached our table.

We were extremely surprised to be questioned on our group decision to not pay for the service charge . Not only that we didn’t receive an apology to how the server treated us that night. It is shocking and I’m greatly appalled .

Just a heads up to anyone who’s expecting to have a lovely time there - as it may not...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Haz for a party, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The food quantity was ample, ensuring everyone left satisfied. The taste of the food was exceptional, and the flavors were well-balanced. As part of the party menu, they served around 3-4 starters for the table, allowing us to sample a variety of delicious bites. It was a great way to kick off the meal and share the joy of food with friends. The environment at Haz is pleasant and inviting. The ambiance is perfect for a party or a casual dinner with friends. I appreciated the attention to detail in creating a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. One aspect that could use improvement is the cocktail selection. While the overall service was good, the cocktails didn't quite meet my expectations. I believe there is room for improvement in terms of flavor profiles and creativity. Nonetheless, the bar staff were friendly and attentive. Haz is a vegetarian-friendly restaurant, which is a big plus for me. They offer a variety of vegetarian options that are both tasty and satisfying. It's reassuring to know that I can enjoy a delicious meal without compromising my dietary preferences. The service at Haz deserves a mention. The staff was attentive, friendly, and ensured that our needs were met throughout the evening. Their promptness and professionalism added to the overall positive experience. Although I prefer dining in, I also appreciate that Haz offers takeaway options. It's a thoughtful way to prevent food waste and accommodate different dining preferences. In terms of recommendations, I highly recommend trying the islander, borek, and falafel dishes. These were some of the highlights of my dining experience. However, the baklava could use some improvement. While it was decent, it didn't quite reach the same level of excellence as the other dishes. Overall, Haz is a great place to dine, especially for parties and gatherings. The food quantity is generous, the taste is impressive, and the environment is inviting. With some improvements to their cocktail selection and baklava, Haz could become even more exceptional. I look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu...

Excellent vibe and atmosphere! The location is tucked away on a quiet road out of the hustle and bustle. I booked a table for the start of a sophisticated hen party - we didn’t have balloons of decorations etc so I can’t comment on if the restaurant allows them. The decor is absolutely stunning with a modern, relaxing environment with fabulous lighting. Perfect for creating the perfect mood. The staff were very accommodating with our requests - we were running late for the next part of the night and they bought our food out quickly whilst keeping the presentation on point. The food was absolutely delicious, to start o had the Turkish sausage which isn’t too spicy but full of flavour. I then had the lamb chops (3 fair sized chops) which were cooked to perfection. Melt in the mouth meat and outstanding flavours. I ordered a side of bulgur which was cooked/looked different to other Turkish restaurants I’ve had but tasted soo good. Their cocktails were absolutely beautiful not too much ice and the alcohol you could actually taste! There were 8 of us and the bill was just under £400 this included cocktails so its around £45-55pp obviously depending on what you order!! I have to admit compared to other Turkish restaurants that are not as ‘fancy’ the portions are slightly small especially for the price, although it is adequate here. Just remember you are also paying for the scenery/setting. Perfect for date night or night out with friends. I don’t recommend this for families of young children. 9/10 just because it’s a tad pricey compared to other restaurants for the amount of food.

The interior was modern and slick. Everything I was able to see (furniture, tableware, architecture, etc…) was of contemporary design. However, I wasn’t able to see any uniqueness of this restaurant. Nothing inside this restaurant or even the music gave a hint of me being in a Turkish restaurant except for the food menu. Regarding the food, the portion sizes for the mezzes/starters were too small. We ordered the hummus, the Turkish chorizo (sucuk), and red lentil soup, which were very delicious! Yet, when looking at the set prices, I personally found it difficult to justify value for money given the portions. Perhaps of the location but that’s just my guess. In any case, a bigger portion size would make a difference. As for the main, I found it interesting to see Lamb Tagine on a Turkish menu but did order it because it was recommended. Tagine is actually a traditional Moroccan dish cooked in a tagine pot and can also appear in various countries in the Maghreb (North Africa). In terms of taste, I quite enjoyed how the meat was prepared and the taste was spot on but at the same time found the dish way too oily. In addition, I found it odd that rice was served with it because tagine is never served with/over rice. Generally, the side dishes to a tagine is always khobz (bread) and a variety of salads e.g. carrot, cucumber & tomato, cured olives, etc. It can either be a single salad or half a dozen. The service was perfect! The members of staff were attentive, friendly and professional.
