Disastrous afternoon tea, I wish I had read the reviews before attending. It was a birthday treat for my friend and when I asked him honestly rate it out of 10, he said 3 and I said 2 out of 10. I was so embarrassed, should have taken him somewhere sensible. The sandwiches were pre made and all came out of the fridge, the eclairs both had condensation as they came up to room temperature and the bread for the sandwiches was dry. The fillings were so cheap, tuna, cheese and coronation chicken. No salmon and cucumber or egg mayo, no effort made whatsoever. A heap of cheap salad and dressing dumped in the middle of the triangles of sandwiches. One of the sandwiches looked like it had been bitten but we reasoned that it must just have been a rough cut, we hope. The Victoria sponge was sickening, dehydrating as it was so sweet. Cheap, looked like from Costco but tasted worse. The lemon drizzle cake was dry. How can you get a lemon drizzle wrong. By buying it in from somewhere and probably slicing and leaving it in the fridge for days. The scones are not like any I have ever had, strange doughy things. The coronation chicken sandwich had cartilage in it, I spat it out into tissue. The whole fiasco was £65 for two people. Really wish I went to The Place to Eat like I usually do or tried Jamie’s. Hell, even Benugo would have been better. Please do not waste your hard earned money as I promise you will feel nothing but disappointment. I actually might complain to John Lewis as this is a complete embarrassment to their establishment. I would not return if you paid me to, how they can call this a bakery, I mean who are you kidding; no artisanal processes were harmed in the making of anything that was on sale in that cafe on the day of my visit 26...

Following an exhaustive time in the John Lewis store refreshments were needed. Having heard of Huffkins this just had to be the place to call for respite. How disappointing! Appreciating it was Sunday and trading hours were shorter I ordered two (2) coffees along with a Sultana scone, jam & cream. Following placing the order I attempted to pay and was told "NO CASH...CARD ONLY " with a finger being pointed at a small sign displayed on the counter ( OK if you don't wear glasses ) Having produced a card after returning to my table to obtain same payment was made only to be told "We close in twenty minutes " The coffee along with a scone which was to hot to be enjoyed was duly brought to the table reducing the time to enjoy to minutes. Whilst appreciating the view and the surroundings the atmosphere was spoilt by tables and dishes being cleared in order to meet the closing deadline. Making it clear on entering the refreshment area that payment can only be made by card and that time to enjoy both the product and the surroundings may be limited before the order is placed can only enhance customer...

I can't recommend this place under any circumstances, firstly because we were discriminated against by the waitress, probably because my group of friends were wearing headscarves or because we are foreigners. It's hard to say exactly why, but we weren't offered any service even though we had a reservation and were assigned to our seats. 45 minutes later, she asked us what we wanted and how we wanted it. She also told us we could get a free orange juice because it was part of the menu, but we got it when we had finished eating and were about to leave, and only because we asked because she had promised us one. I ordered an egg from the menu, and after eating that egg, one of my friends and I felt pretty sick, and we had to run to the bathroom. I wouldn't recommend eating an egg there. Also, the dishes were dirty, and we had to ask for new ones. In short, the service was not good, the food was good for nausea, we waited a long time, and the dishes were dirty. I wouldn't...

Delicious afternoon tea. Excellent value for money and superb friendly service. Cannot wait to go again!

Very disappointed as we went last week to John Lewis with the intention to spend 1500 £ roughly for a new born baby. We asked for a table slightly bigger and the response was that we couldn’t as were reserved. So we said ok we will keep the table only for 20 minutes but the waitress old school and very low manners she said we couldn’t. Obviously we walked out mainly for the manners and guess what: after 45 minutes I went back as I had to pick more stuff for our baby but the 2 tables were still empty. Picture attached for transparency. So we went one floor down to Jamie Oliver where we felt immidiately welcome. Guess what we decided to cancel what we bought from John Lewis and bought from a different company which was mainly a strong signal to JL not to allow these coffee to open in their stores. Will forward our experience to John Lewis customer service for awareness and future considerations in terms of who they employ.
