Nobody is happy here. Nipped in as I’ve eaten at this chain before and thought it was fine. The All Bar One on Regents Street is the exception. Zero atmosphere, the wait staff literally don’t speak to you and people were left bemused and unhappy at their tables either waiting to be served (one couple arrived and left after being ignored) or for food, which was slow to arrive. There was a sign on the table advising to order by website via a QR code but it didn’t work. No signal in the restaurant and no Wi-Fi so no choice but to go to the bar to order. The staff didn’t even bring our drinks over. When the food did arrive (30 min wait) it was bland and not worth the money. My husband had the burger which was bog standard and poor for £15. I had a maki bowl with chicken which was drenched in mayonnaise. The mayo was supposed to be siracha but barely tasted of anything and was watery. I scraped off as much as I could onto a side plate. The mayo was clearly there in place of seasoning and to cover up the dryness of the chicken. It was impressively bland for a dish where everything was touched by mayonnaise. I got so bored of eating this dish I left half of it. While we were waiting for our food I watched the staff come and go, cleaning tables and delivering orders. Not one member of staff welcomed a customer, they didn’t smile and didn’t speak. I may as well have been in a McDonalds. Actually that’s unfair to McDonalds staff. The furniture was really uncomfortable. We had a round table that didn’t have enough space for menus and food. The bench seat was low and was probably comfortable once upon a time but had no filling in the faux leather seat cushion. Same for the chair opposite. All in all, this place looks nice from the outside but inside it’s tired, with tired looking people who don’t want to be there and boring food not worth the price charged. Walk 5 mins down the road and go...
Read moreWe had a prearranged booking for 12pm, we had to wait for our table to be ready. One Christmas cracker was left out for one of our guests. The menu was set and pre-ordered however it took the rest of us to eat our starters for the last person to be given theirs. When trying to signal a waitress to query about this she looked straight at me, walked forward and then turned around - I felt this was very rude! One guest was vegetarian and when asking if the gravy was vegetarian, of of the other waitress' response was I think so. I found this very unacceptable - like if a guest had a nut allergy and they assumed it was nut-free would not be good enough. I asked her to confirm. And then there was not enough of sticky toffee pudding for one guest - however even though this was pre-ordered the kitchen staff did not order enough and flag it to anyone to tell us so that this guest was left waiting for their dessert. The rest of the party had finished their desserts till we were notified and had to pick another dessert. All of these things combined did dampen our experience and it wasn't as smooth as we had hoped for as I took a lot of time and effort to organise my work's Christmas lunch and get everyone's pre-orders from them. I did speak to the staff and they kindly gave a 10% discount and I asked for the service charge to be removed - however felt it was not right to be told they were having a bad day before we arrived - that was nothing to do with us nor was it our fault. And to top this off, pigs in blankets were supposed to be included in our turkey dinners and...
Read moreWe went to All Bar One on bank holiday Monday for brunch/lunch. Firstly I went up to the bar to ask a question. Before I could even open my mouth, the guy said to me 'Sorry we don't take orders here, you have to order via the app'. Very abruptly and without smiling. We're very used to ordering from the table but the app was not functioning properly and cut off twice before my partner could complete the order, which was very frustrating. When the food came everything was lukewarm, including the coffee. I had to search for someone to bring cutlery, salt/pepper and sauces. All my family complained that the food lacked flavour and my fish finger sandwich was pathetic. I've had this sandwich in the past and remember it being impressive and almost too much to eat. This time the portion size was rediculous and it was overcooked. When asking the waitress about it she said that was how it is served. I think it is unacceptable for a £10.50 sandwich and could have done it much better myself. I would not serve a sandwich like to that to myself never mind a guest! You promote yourselves as being an elegant and "sophisticated cocktail bar" and this is the best that paying customers can expect? Really?? The pub just up the road there (The Finery) is much more impressive. You can see that the chef actually cares a lot about their food and how it's presented. Just really...
