AGGRESSIVE MANAGER WHO KEEPS DELETING THIS REVIEW!! My housemate and I decided to try this restaurant and after passing it on our way home several times. We both ordered sake, two portions of katsu chicken and one portion of rice. I ate a few pieces of my katsu as it didnāt agree with me (canāt specifically outline why) but I sent it back and explained that it didnāt taste right to me and said I would order something new. I was not offered a replacement meal- pretty sure this is standard practice, if not sorry for assuming.
When it came to paying the bill I said that perhaps being offered another meal as a replacement would have been good customer service. The manager/ owner then started acting extremely defensive, laughed at me and said āit was my fault I over orderedā. When I said I hadnāt over ordered he said it was a reputable meal and that I was the only one that had a problem with it. The exchange became extremely confrontational and left me extremely flustered, so I quickly paid and got up to leave.
On walking out of the door he swore at as so turned around and said āexcuse meā. In retaliation he picked up his phone and said āwhat? am I not allowed to find my own personal chats amusing. Now get outā. I have never in my life been treated like this. It was appalling and I would never expect anyone trained in a profession that delivers services to customers to act in this manner. I will not stand for rude behaviour. A simple apology or statement saying that offering a replacement meal is not their policy would have been fine.
Definitely do not recommend.
If you scroll down to Gaia Marcusā review he claims that the manager was extremely aggressive as he was to me. Glad to know mine wasnāt an anomaly and that he is just a terrible...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to pass by this deep-blue-signed Japanese restaurant called Kami on the bus back when I was still in school, and finally got to try it last night after a walk around Regentās Park. Hereās a breakdown of what we ordered, along with some personal thoughts and ratingsāhope this helps anyone considering a visit!

š± Foie Gras Don (Ā£32) ā ā ā ā ā Absolutely five stars! Honestly, this is the one dish I always look for at any Japanese placeāitās my ultimate comfort food. The foie gras here was perfectly seared and rich, with just the right amount of oil, and paired with both unagi (eel) and chicken, making it a super satisfying combo. Portion size is generous, so itās great for sharing. Will 100% come back for this again.

š„ Salmon Sashimi Salad (Ā£10) ā ā ā ā ā The sauce was what really stood outāslightly tangy but with a subtle sweetness that gave it a unique flavor. Even though I donāt usually like sour dressings, this one won me over. The salmon itself was fresh and paired really well with the dressing. Would order again!

š£ Wagyu Roll (Ā£24) ā ā ā ā ā Beautiful presentation, and the wagyu literally melted in my mouth. Loved the contrast of textures from the crunchy toppings and the crisp asparagus insideānicely layered flavor and texture in one bite. For the price, the portion is fair. Solid four stars.

š¢ Yakitori (Ā£7.5) ā ā ā āā Two skewers of grilled chicken and leek with a sweet soy glaze. Not bad at allāfresh chicken, decent portionābut the sauce was a little too sweet for my taste. Still, itās a safe choice if you want a warm side dish.

š„¤ Appletiser (Ā£3.8) ā ā ā āā This was my friendās drink, but she said it was super refreshing with the foie gras donāhelped balance out the richness. If youāre getting something oily, itās a good drink...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToday I came to eat at Kami Japanese Restaurant located in Kentish Town, North District 2. The transportation here is super convenient, whether it is bus, subway or train, it is very close. However, the Northern Line station has been closed recently. Walk from the two stations before and after. It's not far here! Let me recommend it to everyone~
š¤ Pan-fried shrimp and meat dumplings, with a thin crust, so delicious! The shrimp meat inside is very plump, and itās a fried dumpling you canāt get anywhere else! Served with pan-fried tofu, half of the outside is crispy and half is soft when soaked in the soup. It looks good and delicious~ Itās really appetizing!
š„© Teriyaki rib eye steak, the meat is fresh and tender, and the teriyaki sauce is full of aroma I also helped cut it into strips, and paired it with broccoli, cauliflower and carrots, it was perfect! I also ordered a wagyu sushi roll for the beef, which was a super big one You can taste the super soft texture of the super fragrant wagyu beef in every bite, and the smell of grilling is very good! Asparagus and tempura shrimp are also included, super delicious!
š Japanese curry chicken cutlet rice, the curry is rich but not greasy, the chicken cutlet is crispy and great! There is also a portion of tempura udon with a mellow soup, chewy udon noodles, and a variety of tempura! The tempura is really filling, there are shrimps, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, gourds, potatoes, broccoli! Just love it!
Kami Japanese Cuisine not only has a comfortable environment, but the dishes are also excellent~ The prices are not expensive, and the dishes are complete and delicious! I feel like I can go back several...
