Lord J. My goto pub every day during my 1 month stay in Bloomsbury. Absolutely the best beer selection and a never ending revolving ale list on cask. Shout out to Theresa my afternoon bar keep. Always pleasant and very cheerful. I've never been to a pub in London that plays Motown all day long. Much appreciated. There are always beer specials starting at £4.50 a pint for a group of select beers. There is outside seating with wooden picnic tables out front and on the side of the pub. Lunch served from noon to 2pm-ish and very good. Sunday roast is served early from 1pm-5pm.

Extremely good value, £4.30 for a pint of bitter in central London a stones throw from Euston & Kings Cross St Pancras stations. I visited on a late afternoon so it was quiet but service was friendly and prompt. A good choice of beers, wine and spirits. The kitchen was closed when I visited so can’t comment on their food. A friendly and relaxing little oasis of calm if you have time to kill before catching a train & want to avoid the bustle of the stations.

Great pub in an excellent location (especially as the wonderful North Sea Fish restaurant is round the corner!) Always really nicely chosen cask ales, good selection of other drinks too. Enjoyable inside, on my most recent visit I watched some of the Olympics and also sat outside for a while. Staff have an element of old-school about them, you can tell they know their trade. Always very popular, and the food sounds good too, I'll try that sometime.

Can’t believe I’m actually writing a review for a pub but here we are because I think people ought to know that if they’re not white they should expect to be treated differently here.

This is mainly directed at the gen z boy working on the 30th of August on Saturday evening with the silver chain, thick black framed glasses and broccoli hair cut - though I believe he was just the messenger (albeit a rude one)

Got to this pub at 6.45 and ordered a round of drinks. Was chatting away to my pals on a standing table. Got to 8pm and because we hadn’t ordered a second round of drinks, he decided to come over and tell us the following “guys if you’re not going to order more drinks you need to leave because of the limited space we have. We can’t have people just sitting around here”.

Now look, I get it: he’s making minimum wage, it was probably his manager telling him that he needed to come and do this, but is this seriously the best customer service you can muster? How about something like asking us if we wanted or order any more drinks, and then saying, look it’s not personal but if not could we ask you guys to move outside/move elsewhere so other people can sit down. There were about 10 different ways you could’ve chosen to phrase this, but instead you picked a rude and arrogant way of doing so.

I kid you not: there was no line to get into the pub. The pub was not heaving with people all trying to get a seat and falling over themselves to get into this one particular pub. It’s a nice pub, but calm down, cut the ego, have some humbleness and treat people with respect? I note that you didn’t seem to be keeping a track of the other Caucasian patrons and asking them to leave so I can’t help but wonder if you felt it appropriate to pick us due to our race. I’m sure you would’ve been much politer otherwise. I can see this a trend from previous reviews as well.

So if you’re looking for a pub in the area, are happy ordering every hour, and don’t mind micro aggressions from their lovely staff, then this is a...

I was with my partner and we had a friend with us, we placed 2 orders: we ordered 2 roasts + desserts and our friend ordered 1 roast with dessert separately. After we placed our orders one of the staff came to us and asked if we wanted to receive the desserts at the same time. We said sure, because we thought she is asking if we want to receive the dessert at the same time when our friend does. When they brought our food one of the waitresses roasted us for wanting the dessert and the mains at the same time, throwing a scene in front of everyone. She was extremely rude. I had a feeling that we were also looked upon because we are foreigners, which is ridiculous in 2023. Our friend never received their food by the way, they simply forgot to bring it out. Very rude staff, food is average. Avoid (especially if you...

Great choice of beer (especially draught Budvar) at good prices, and a good 'look' to the pub, but after being a regular there every week for pretty much a year, I have to say I always thought the service was sketchy at best, and I certainly never felt like a regular or was treated like one. Then one day my friend (co-regular) and I were told out of the blue that we weren't going to be served again because of 'something which happened last week'. The young guy serving (who knew us to be regulars) didn't know what that thing was but had just been told by the landlord not to serve us anymore. Sort of fits with the 'passive aggressive' reports in other reviews. Shame to miss the pub and the Budvar, but won't miss the staff in any way,...
