i actually thought a lot of the appetiser dishes people said were good didn't quite hit the spot; however the mains we've tried were all very solid choices. The chasiu pork chop, clean steamed fish (a classic catonese favourite šš°). If they put the house chilli crunch with the peanut & sesame noodles i think that will rly round the dish up as the cold noodles were missing a hit of that background heat to it and texture wasn't very aldente/chewy in which I would've expected from a cold noodle dish as such. lo bak go (radish cake) is missing the structure you would get from steaming and panfrying the cakes hence the softness of it was not what i expected from it..
A variety of canto/chinese dishes, bits of everything the chefs found and liked on their travels. some were good some weren't š¤·āāļø but kudos to the chasiu and steamed fish which i thought was very nicely served and cooked. cute space decorated like a chachaanteng serving actual iced cold pints ššŗ. Missing some classic cantonese oldies (80-00s) to really jazz the place up

Ā Ā Ā Read moreTIP: YOU HAVE TO BOOK A TABLE.
We walked in and were asked if we had booked, we said no as we just walked in out of curiosity. The guy serving us was huffy but his adviser/colleague provided us a table.
We found three dishes per person was plenty. We underestimated as we saw the dishes looked small and ordered a 7th wish was one of the biggest - the beef and potato stew and didnāt have enough space to eat it (and we eat quite big portions).
Loved the flavours, all authentic and flavoursome and well done. Loved the turnip cake the most and the sesame noodles also.
The music was too loud and a bit distracting and the service was not great- no plates were collected at any point and we were made to feel a little awkward for being squeezed in and reminded as we ate that we would need to essentially be quicker. We also offered to move tables but carried all our dishes over without help. Essentially if they felt we were in the way we should have been told to book.
Regardless of the booking issue I loved the food and Iāll be going back, with a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI cant tell you how happy I am that these guys have finally opened up a restaurant! I have been going to their pop ups for years but they finally have a home that is very easy to get to, only 5 minutes walk from Hackney Central. The food is unlike any Chinese I've had before, sesame noodles sensational, cucumbers so good! Pineapple rice is punchy! The range of meat dishes will send any carnivore to meat heaven, with some of the most fingerlicking marinates like the chicken wings we had. And fear not vegans, they have just as many dishes for you too. The typhoon shelter sprouts, which I think could be my favourite, sweet and crunchy with melting spring onions mmmm. I could talk about the food forever. The service really gives you sense of how much these guys care about what they're doing, they are so knowledgeable about the food, what regions each dish comes from, even giving you stories about some of there trips and background on how they found them. I love this place. If you...
