đ Kilburn đşÂ ÂŁ4.20 Carlsberg â¤ď¸ One of the last bastions of Irish pubs in Kilburn. . McGlynnâs Bar is located on Willesden Lane just off Kilburn High Road. The nearest Tube is Kilburn on the Jubilee Line, it takes around a ten minute walk to get here. . This Irish pub started life as The Calcott Tavern, in recent times it was called Father Tedâs. This corner pub has a simple but elegant facade, the footprint is quite small, when visiting I walked straight past not noticing the pub. . The decor here is bright and modern with no trace of any original decor. This is a compact pub which has the servery running down the right hand side. The seating is made of long banquettes with traditional tables and low level stools, around the bar are some high backed stools which I can imagine are semi reserved. Around the walls are black and white prints, a few mirrors plus a multitude of screens for local avid sports fans. . The beer choice was mainstream brands, well celebrated Guinness but no cask. I was on the lager all day so chose a Carlsberg, my pint was great and cost just over four quid, bargain! During the week 11am to 5pm (happy hour) most pints cost ÂŁ4.20. There is no food served here at present. . I arrived around 4.30pm and the pub was absolutely packed, I was lucky enough to find a seat by the front door. The atmosphere was upbeat and one of angst for the Man Utd fans watching the FA Cup final. As well as showing live football, this pub also shows live GAA, horse racing, golf etc, where ever you sit in here there is a good view of a screen. . This pub is one of the last bastions of Irish pub culture left in Kilburn, the punters were predominantly 1st and 2nd generation Irish. I got talking to a friendly member of staff about how trade was, she mentioned that Saturdays are always busy but during the week is up and down, she also mentioned that Sundays are not as busy as they used to be, this is a common theme in wet-led pubs. . McGlynn's Bar is a friendly and welcoming boozer which is well worth a visit. . âšď¸ Info correct on...
