I wasnât going to leave this review because I just normally donât review, but after my second interaction with them I wanted to.
I came in the other night and got a beef and onion pie with chips and curry sauce. Paid with a 20ÂŁ note and got change. The food was honestly terrible. Pie was awful, frozen would be better. Maybe it was frozen, (it was wrapped in plastic). If it is they should change their brand. Chips were fine but the curry sauce was curry water. Either powdered or theyâre so cheap they are watering down an actual curry sauce. The food was honestly trash, like, I literally threw it away. Again, donât normally review tho and it was cheap so whatever.
Anyways, two days later I went to pay at a restaurant and realized my 10 note I got as change was Scottish pounds. I know it came from here because I used the only 20ÂŁ note I had at Mickyâs and also had no other cash in my wallet after besides the coin change and 10 note I got as change. I know itâs not a lot of money, but Iâm traveling and not British and I didnât want to pay an exchange fee for such a small note. I went back in and figured theyâd just swap and assume that no one would lie about such a thing. Well, wrong. They were super rude and denied it, kept asking who helped me (what am I supposed to remember the name or have a mental picture of every cashier I interact with while traveling?). I think they mentioned why would they have Scottish pounds in their register and I said actually Iâm pretty sure the guy pulled the change out of his pocketâŚ
I kinda feel like he mistakenly took a Scottish note and figured since Iâm not British I wouldnât notice or otherwise wouldnât be able to remember how I got it. But who knows, maybe it was a genuine mistake and he took the bill without realizing and also gave it back to me as change without noticing. Either way, they should have at least been polite in declining it and not so outright rude. Again, itâs a small note and Iâm not from here, and itâs such a random thing to lie about, like why make it a big deal? If itâs so easy to exchange, as they kept saying, why not just help someone out thatâs not from here and swap me notes and handle it yourself? Even just to be a good person? Or maybe if they had politely explained exactly where I could have taken it to exchange and been apologetic I wouldnât have cared as much. But whatever, they were just plain rude people.
So, if you want some crummy food and bad customer service, youâve found your place. Donât forget to get the...
Read moreGot served very quickly by a friendly waitress and by quick I mean I ordered , Sat down , the food was in front of me a minute later .
The fish was OK the fries portion could have been a little bit more generous considering its ÂŁ8.95 for fish chips and a small bottle of water .
The table had salt and pepper, ketchup, and vinegar. They also include a wedge of lemon which I thought was nice not having to ask for it .
When I asked for a fish and chips meal, I got given the large sized meal. it would have been nice if they didn't assume I wanted the large portion or at least asked.
The price of a normal fish and chips meal is shown on their table menus as ÂŁ5.95 although they do have the large meal too.
All in all its an okay place with a good number of seats , friendly waitress and ok fish and chips. I wouldn't go as far as calling it the best fish and chips in London though. I Would have given it 3 stars if it weren't for the pricing.
Make sure you are clear when you place your order, and check your bill. and If you are eating in, I think it might be a good idea to pay first then sit down and eat. Since if you ask for the bill after finishing your meal you might (as I was) get asked to go and pay at the counter anyway.
So to summarize.... food is ok, service friendly , pricing is ok if you order the medium size fish. So again do double check your order and pay before you eat...
Read moreHad a great dinner at Micky's after the football last weekend.
Traditional, no frills premises both inside and out, but the food is quality and that's what really matters.
It was busy at the time, (always a good sign) but one of the guys seated us and kept us informed he wouldn't be long taking our order. True to his word, within 10 mins we were seated and ordered.
Ended up going for the BBQ half roast chicken & chips with a side of onion rings.
While waiting for our food, we were brought our drinks, followed shortly by the onion rings to keep us ticking over. I must say, the guy who was serving us was very attentive and apologised for the delay explaining they were busy. (in truth, it wasn't much of a wait at all, but it was a nice touch).
Food was really good. Onion rings were really crispy and tasty as were the chips (proper takeaway chips). The chicken was delicious too, and the portions were generous, especially the chicken. Very happy with price as well.
I thought all the staff working there that night were absolutely sound. Good at their jobs, but also very customer focused, friendly and polite. They each made an effort to have a chat and engage with you and make you feel valued, really nice personal touch.
In short - Good food, good value, good staff. Couldn't ask for more, and I'll defo visit again when up...
