Mike's Kitchen — Restaurant in London

I had one succesful and one failed order with Mike's kitchen. The successful order contained a mikes xl kebab which at £15 was way overpriced for the quantity and quality. The chicken and lamb shish were burnt and pretty dry. The chicken donner was a bit tasteless (I think unseasoned) but the lamb donner was reasonable - which is a shame as in a £15 kebab you don't plan on only wanting the lamb donner. The chips were ok, but were a processed type and so neither proper chip shop chips or even decent fries. The whole thing was fairly cold when delivered.

Despite a poor experience, I tried ordering again at 23:15 when I fancied a kebab and thought mike's deserves another chance. Unfortunately the lady on the phone was oddly rude interrupting me to shout to Mike(?) to see if my order for a mixed kebab might be ok and just ignoring me for a minute. As the highlight / edible portion of the last kebab had been the lamb donner I asked if they could substitute the chicken donner for lamb donner. As the lamb is cheaper I didn't expect problems but was abruptly told 'it comes as it comes'. At this stage it was annoying but in a last effort to try with mikes I asked if they could do fried onions but unfortunately they can't fry onions.

I created an account just to be able to write this review. I live next door to this chipper so gave them a second chance when I disliked the first kebab as I hoped it was a one off. I went tonight for a meat and chips, and the overall experience and portion size I got was the worst I have had in London. I asked for a large meat and chips and the guy made a point of saying he could only offer a small.. when I offered to pay more he said his till didn’t allow it. I tried my best to be friendly but he was totally non-engaging and rude, and then put vinegar on my chips without asking, and gave me the most pathetic amount of meat you could ask for. Honestly not worth going to if you are hoping for a decent portion or someone who even listens to your order. I won’t ever go back and I’ll be telling my friends to avoid like the plague just because the people there couldn’t care less about giving you a good meal. Really...

I'm Mike's neighbour and, though he addresses me as "my friend", his behaviour is far from friendly. At night time Mike does his building in the flat above his shop. The drilling, hammering and shouting goes on till 3 in the morning. Mike doesn't mind the complaints and is keen to take on the police to fight for his right of keeping people up at night. So next time you feel hungry don't go to Mike's. Help him by going elsewhere, so he can close the shop early and return to his building in day time. The pizza next door is not bad at all.
