We had a great afternoon at Molly Mc's. Conveniently located close to Southwark tube station, the pub has a traditional Irish style complete with cosy nooks to enjoy. The drink selection was great - the Guinness tasted smooth and served just right and they serve other beers as well as cocktails. I highly recommend trying the Irish coffee and Molly's sours. They also serve food, but not in the traditional Irish style you might expect - instead they serve a unique selection of Thai-Irish fusion dishes. I recommend trying the spice bags - well seasoned bags of chips with popcorn chicken and fresh chilli - though the spice level is high! The beef curry also tasted great with a more balanced spice level. Molly's has plenty of entertainment options available as well - in particular they have private karaoke rooms you can hire in the back. They also had live music in the evening and a fun ring toss game to try. Overall Molly's had a great vibe, it was pretty busy but people were friendly and staff did a great job serving people. Would definitely recommend to try if you are in the area!

TLDR; surprisingly good Thai food but was a tad expensive and cramped Came here on a Friday night and the place was rammed. The dining and bar area bleed into each other and so did the music and conversations. It was really difficult to have a conversation at one point. Generally the place felt a bit too cramped for a sit down meal. The thai food was surprisingly good and authentic. The pad thai in particular was the highlight. You can feel the “fire” and intensity it was cooked with. The curry and calamari were decent but a little salty. It was a little on the expensive side (~£13 for a curry) which can be justified for some dishes like the Pad Thai.

OMG. I can't remember the last time I went somewhere I loved so much. Molly MCs has such a great atmosphere. It feels quite happy and bouncy, when the world outside can be harsh and lonely. We went on a Thursday night, when the sun was shining, the bar was so busy and lively. All the tables were pre booked, so a lovely guy who worked there found us a space in the nook. We ordered spice bags which were absolutely delicious! And then to top it off there was a live Irish band. Heaven. My friend and I keep talking about spice bags. We will be back soon!!!

Last week between 8pm and 8.30pm I had a very unpleasant experience at Jacks Bar. My friend and I had ordered 2 snacks and 3 items from the 3 for £17 menu, which should have totalled £30.50.

Before the food arrived we were charged just over £37 for food and service. At the time my friend did not question it.

When the food arrived, 4 out of 5 dishes were cold. We’re given no cutlery or napkins etc. so we actually asked to borrow the cutlery and napkins off of a table next to us.

We had decided after sampling the food that we were not happy that the food was cold and the fact that we hadn’t received any service at all and we did not want to pay service charge.

We asked someone to come over to discuss the issue, during this time we realised we had also been overcharged.

A lady with red hair came over. She bluntly pointed out the food items on the bill in quite a rude manor and said she would refund us for the service only. I explained that the items were from the 3 for £17 menu and we had been overcharged. She dissapeared for awhile and returned and said she would return the money for the overcharge too. She unfortunately couldn’t figure that out herself and my friend Suzi helped her with the calculations and she subsequently refunded us. The lady with red hair then said it was the man’s first day with us. I said oh it was actually a woman that served us so she may have got the server mixed up with someone else. She got very angry took our drinks (2 wines and a water) away by placing her fingers in them. She kept repeating we had been rude to her staff. We were very confused. She then said the person that served you is man and that we had misgendered them. Firstly 2 different people served us taking our order, then paying and then serving us our food. Secondly if we had misgendered someone it was clearly an honest mistake. We wasn’t deliberately misgendering a person. Why would we do this deliberately? It was so odd!

She repeated herself several times saying we were rude to her staff. All the while being extremely rude to us and drawing attention to our table which was quite embarrassing. She argued without really listening to us and the smiled at us and said we were barred. My friend actually apologised to diffuse the situation (not that she had done anything wrong) and said if we have misgendered someone we apologise but actually we just assumed that at least 1 person that served us was a woman and wasn’t a new starter. She then placed the drinks back on the table and said we could finish our drinks - the same drinks that she had stuck her fingers in. I said absolutely not and that we should be refunded for the drinks that she had taken away and put her fingers in. She refused and told us again that we were barred. At this point I realised there was no reasoning with this person and asked to speak to her manager. She span around and opened her arms said I am the manager. I explained I understood that she may be a manager but could I speak to her line manager. She span around again and pointed at herself. We left it there and my friend went to wash her hands before we left.

Whilst my friend was washing her hands in the bathroom, I asked, as she was the only person I could complain to, if she could give me her name and details to make a formal complaint. She said that I could speak to her colleague but she said she would not give me her name. I did ask one of your bar staff for a quiet word very quickly and briefly mentioned the abhorrent and embarrassing attitude that we had just received and information on how to make a complaint. He was discreet and pleasant enough and explained there was an email address on the website.

My friend and I have never been barred from anywhere. I don’t think I have ever felt so embarrassed or annoyed. She was completely unreasonable, sarcastic and difficult to converse with.

The fact of the matter is we were served poor quality food, overcharged and were given minimal service and when we pointed that out we were met with aggression. I emailed, never received any...

I’m a pretty regular in this place and I love the food to the moon and back (more than 1 year and half ) today I came as my usual to collect my food with too good too go. In the last past year I was coming more or less everyday and the bar staff is on top always friendly and help for my requests. Today as my usual I went there and the ginger guy behind the bar in rude way start to tell thar was my fault and teams members that Is not possible anymore , since when? I never steal anything and I always swipe up on time, so I don’t understand why this attitude. And let feel down the customer and the team members like that. Plus when I was explaining the guy ( manager? Supervisor? Team members? Who knows) and in the way he was talking to me looked he was talking to someone with dementia , like hellooo I understand what you are saying to me but is not correct. I hope this guy is gonna change attitude because is gonna waste in this way food , no with me Buying 4 boxes with too hood too go, because people are not paying for this kind of treatment! I’m really upset because I always have been in love with this place and said to the guy as well without them I’m lost! So please fix him and the attitude and you’ll see people are going to come more!! Thanks you.

My dear owner That you wrote that they were still serving people is a big lie because I discovered too good too go because Once I came around that time and you told me that after 14 in the afternoon I could use it. Sooo please don’t gimme that I’m not stupid was just an excuse that day....

Have been to several other mc and sons pubs so was excited to try their food especially as the menu was different to the others.

The atmosphere for a sat afternoon was great the drinks fast and cold and then sadly we ate

The food arrived. Looked and smelt amazing

Aubergine with tamarind was brilliant.

Prawn crackers with house curry should had been amazing. The smell of the curry sauce was great as ever. It was served cold, not sure if meant to but that’s not the issue. The sauce was sweet. So sweeet totally missing the spices and kick I’m used to.

Mains of braised beef and roti. Roti was great. Fried and crispy, so slightly different. But again the braised stew was so sweet again.

The tamarind duck was so sweet. Hardly and sourness or citrus lift

The food tasted like someone had just thrown a batch source in the pot and then missed out on adding to it in order to make the food sing!

Always dangerous to advertise as mc and sons curry sauce only to serve up a bastardised version of it.

The place is great. The food was soooo poor.

Just stil to the original Pubs within a 10 min walk and forget this one

2 hours it took to get the sweet sauce out of my mouth.

Shocking taste. Quality ingredients and everything else here.

Just don’t eat Ps were asked how the food was and we did say overtly sweet and that why we left so much of it.

“Tumbleweed” no comment apart to say they have a large kitchen. No response to my question if anyone running it was Thai like the rest of the chains

£60 and 90...
