The whole experience started horribly from the very first moment we entered the restaurant. The receptionist took over 5 minutes to find our reservation and mentioned every single name on her list before finding our reservation, even though we spelt it few times. When she finally found it she told us to wait a moment for the manager to come and sit us at our table. She abandoned us for an endless amount of time in the corner of the reception whilst she was looking at herself on the mirror fixing her hair style and checking wether she was looking pretty enough. The manager came after at least 7/8 minutes and sit us in a table which was literally 3 cm from the ones next to ours. Another waiter came and without even showing us a menu started to mention few cocktails. We asked for the list and we ordered 2 Martinis (the only decent part of the dinner). We were brought the food menu after good 15 minutes waiting (the menu is presented as a single laminated page, that you would normally find in a cheap takeaway restaurant). Starters start from around £19 up until £35, which is absolutely fine if you receive an outstanding level of food/service. We ordered a portion on Prawns toast and Prawn Dumplings to start, followed by duck as a main dish. The first starter arrived and was presented in an metallic tray (the ones that are usually used to warm up the food on the salamandra). The toasts were dry, tasteless and did absolutely taste nothing similar to prawns but more like rubber. We only ate 2 of the 4 served and when the server came to collect the tray did not even ask if something was wrong with the dish. Plates were not even changed and we were served the second starter straight away. A very sad tray of green dumplings arrived without any dressing or whatsoever in the serving tray. The pastry was absolutely tasteless with the same rubber consistence of the ones before and the filling was a single shrimp, (the ones you can buy frozen at any supermarket) and no sauce or paste whatsoever. Again half of the dish was left over and once again the server did not ask a single question about how the dish was. Already upset we decided to wait for the main. In the meantime the waiter came to collect the empty cocktail glass and asked me if I wanted another one, which I didn't. Despite my answer the server came back with another cocktail arguing with me saying that i did order it. The duck finally came and was the most awful and driest duck dish I haver had in my entire life. At this point, completely furious I stopped a waiter and asked for a manager. whilst waiting another waiter came by and asked us if we were done with our meal ???? the tray was basically untouched with the whole duck still sitting there, how can you possibly think someone has finished after paying £45 for that?? The manager (Marcelo) came to our table after 15 minutes and I explained the situation... and the answer?? a laugh in my face and he asked me with sarcastic tone "was the water good at least?". We were shocked, we have never received such an answer after a complaint in a restaurant that pretends to be "fine dining". We were presented the bill which included all the dishes ordered but the duck which of course we did not eat. The receptionist once again could not find our umbrella and my parter had to look for it himself... Absolutely disgusting, this restaurant is robbing people asking an average of £100.00pp for the same food that you can order on Just Eat for less...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I had the option I really would give no stars. Me and my partner were made to wait for 15mins before being seated although we had made a reservation. For one of our mains we ordered crispy duck... nobody order this. The duck had clearly been left in the deep frier for way to long as by the time It got to us it was finished; 90% crispy 10% duck. Whilst our mains were being layed on the table my partner and I had our first distasteful encounter with our waiter for the evening. He was very blunt and bossy I.e telling my partner to leave the rice were he placed it and to not move it to any other place on the table. After my partner paid we were waiting for the change ( Ā£20). Whilst we were waiting we made eye contact with our waiter who at this time had started serving the table next to us. Once he noticed the eye contact he smugishly said āis there something I am missingā unimpressed by his attitude my partner and I responded : āyes, the changeā. The waiter gave myself and my partner a dirty look as if asking for the change was unusual and confused as if he had earned it as a tip. At this point we asked to speak to the āmanagerā. After reporting the waiter, we let the āmangerā know that we were also made to wait for our table which should have been prepared for us on arrival as we had made a reservation. What happened next was the most shocking part of the night. The manager passionately disagreed with us and said that we had not been waiting for 15mins but in fact 2mins! This really antagonised us as it was as if the manger was calling us liars. After this my partner gave me the q and we got up and left- with out the āchangeā. My partner is a regular at Mr. Chows and the service we received was shameful. However, this did not, nor did we let it ruin our evening; the focus of the evening was each other,...
