Ok so you can see from my other reviews I am a bit of a steak lover and travel the world enjoying my favourite hobby.
Suggested by someone else, tonight I decided to try the ironically named 'Mr Steak'.
As for the location not too bad, a few minutes walk from Hammersmith tube station. The restaurant is small and unassuming.
For me I think it was slightly cramped inside for the amount of covers they are trying to serve. Some others might describe cramped as intimate, each to their own. It was Saturday night and it was busy but the service was quick and prompt.
The food, given it is in central london was very reasonably priced. It was cooked perfectly and presented very nicely. Everything was set to be a excellent experience and then I tasted the meat.
There was something off with the taste. It was not nice, it had a livery/metallic taste. I have eaten a lot of meat in my time from all over the world to know this was not how a ribeye should taste. As a general rule of thumb, I personally don't like to make a scene in a restaurant about the food, so I just ate it hoping that the taste would disappear. This did not happen. I asked the person who i was dining with if anything was wrong with theirs so I can only assume I just got unlucky with the bad bit of meat. Shame really, but it does happen sometimes.
So I am in a real dilemma now. I really like the restaurant and the staff were super nice, but do I rate the restaurant based on the food they served itself which they had no way of knowing about or I put it down to a one off and hope this does not happen to anyone else.
I will let you make up your mind when you...
Read moreIndulging in the tomahawk steak at Mr. Steak was truly an unparalleled culinary experience. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the stage for an evening of gastronomic delight. The anticipation grew as we perused the menu, but nothing could have prepared us for the sheer perfection that awaited us with each bite of that magnificent steak.
The tomahawk steak itself was a masterpiece of culinary craftsmanship. Cooked to absolute perfection, it was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The marbling was exquisite, infusing every mouthful with rich, savory goodness. Each bite was a revelation, a symphony of taste and texture that left us speechless.
But what truly elevated our dining experience was the impeccable service we received, particularly from our waitress Nikola. Her attentiveness, knowledge, and genuine passion for the cuisine shone through in every interaction. Not only did she guide us through the menu with expertise, but she also offered insightful recommendations that enhanced our meal even further. Her warmth and hospitality made us feel truly welcomed and cared for, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our evening.
As we savored every last morsel of that incredible tomahawk steak, Neil and I couldn't help but already plan our next visit. Mr. Steak has undoubtedly become a favorite dining destination for us, thanks to its exceptional food, exemplary service, and the memorable experience it offers. We eagerly anticipate our next culinary adventure and look forward to once again indulging in the delights that await us...
Read moreOverhyped and overpriced. Wouldn't return again. I came here last night for a date night because it was rated 4.8 on Google. Unfortunately, this was more of a theatrical place that focused more on Instagrammable content than its food. We ordered the Leave It Up To Me, which came with three prawns, half a lobster, and three medium-rare steaks. Although the experience was nice and different from choosing your own knife and dry ice shows, the food was below par. We started with the prawns, which were warm and okay. Then we went for the lobster, which was overcooked, rubbery, and cold. The meat in the claw was cooked well but didn't have any taste. By the time we reached the steaks, they were cold. The ribeye was tough even though it was medium rare. The rest of the steaks were alright, but having all the food on one plate with the juice from the seafood and meat mixed together and eating it cold isn't something worth £130. We ordered the truffle fries and bechamel spinach, which were something standard you would get at a cheaper place. Truffle oil was used instead of actual truffles, considering the price we were paying. Unfortunately, when the waiter came to see that we had finished, he thought that we loved it. I had to say something, as it was just all hyped up and wasn't what you would want to pay that much for. The only comment that he could give us was to ask them to heat the food up if it was cold. This should have been explained to us with the bunch of explanations that were given regarding the story and theatrics instead. The wine was,...
