When you walk through the door of My Village Hawraman, you step into a magical place straight out of a restaurant fairytale. I was informed I'd be experiencing Kurdish cuisine here, I knew nothing of it only that it was Mediterranean similar to some Turkish dishes and was excited to try this new cuisine.
When you walk in and get to your table, you'll place your order at the till being welcomed by extremely friendly staff that make you feel you're in a family-run business. The food available is all vegan and extremely nice, leaving any person satisfied from their meal. Between 4 of us we shared a couple of starters and 2 mains, all washed down with a lovely bottle of Shiraz.
The food came pretty fast and we received a wow factor at how good it all looked, before we sampled the dishes. Everything is extremely fresh and tasty, and the dishes are perfect for sharing with good company. We had the Falafel plate and Halloumi meal, with olives and vine leaves to start. With the different dips you'll get, expect to order more flat bread as you won't want to waste anything.
This is definitely a restaurant I'd recommend to many, and would gladly return to for the magical experience to be had. The restaurant is very big and well decorated making you feel you're no longer in Camden, and there's even a space to see and hear live performances while you enjoy your food. In the summer this place will be great, as they have a big outdoor seating area out the back where you can enjoy a great time under the sun. I'll be sure to be back then,...

So historically I’ve really enjoyed this place and food was nice. We popped in one quiet Wednesday lunchtime 3 mums and babies looking for somewhere we eat and let the babies out and I enquired about their small room with floor tables which would have been perfect. I was told abruptly no that we couldn’t use that area, it’s reserved for people spending £25 each. The owner was unfriendly and dismissive. No where else in the cafe was suitable for our children so we left, i found his manner very unnecessary and clearly he’s unwilling to be flexible. I was very disappointed with their poor attitude and reluctance to accommodate us when so quiet in there.
Honestly reading the reviews now I can see rudeness is a common theme and when the owner replies with horrible comments to the reviews he is further validating his lack of customer service. Such a shame as I used to like going here.
P.s note for parents- The Lock Tavern was much friendlier for kids and food really nice. Just...
Read moreI had a very weird encounter at this restaurant. which I had been to previously. The gentleman who served me was rather forthright and somewhat pushy which I ignored and carried on deciding what I wanted from the take away menu. After receiving my food I took it to eat it in my car a few metres away. I was in a hurry and didn't want to eat in the restaurant. At some point I feel the car shake and there's the gentleman server now pushing the car with his back whilst seemingly taking photos of an empty shop, I ignored it and then he did it a second time, I continued ignoring it and he walked back to the restaurant. He was obviously trying to get my attention...AND what...? tell me I was wrong for eating my take away? Please be for warned the main men who run this place seem to be living on another planet...WEIRD! And by the way my Hallumi wrap was a soggy mess...just as well I didn't pay more to eat it in...
