Finally! Savoury oats served and I am so glad I came here for it. Oatis could probably be the first place in London serving savoury oats. Savoury oats aren't new but it's good to see an establishment serve them because of acceptance and demand/supply.
There are four to choose from: The Steel Cut Club (chicken, bacon and avocado) Sesame Miso Salmon (salmon, pickles, avocado) Hippie Bowl (vegetarian) The Seoul Bowl (pork, soft boiled egg)
I love the savoury options here because you can see they've actually thought about the pairing and how it all goes together. Tried the Steel Cut Club and changed the zhoug chicken to a soft boiled egg because eggs and bacon is the ultimate food of Gods for an English style breakfast/brunch. I am so happy they accommodated which took it to the next level. Again, I was impressed they served it with crispy bacon because it only works well as it is much more flavourful. Would love to see a savoury breakfast oat option with the usual suspects like egg, bacons and sausage and possibly black pudding.
The other one we had was the Sesame Miso Salmon which was another tasty option because of the pickles. The salmon was much nicer than anticipated because it was salted so you don't get that fishiness and the texture was flaky yet not dry complimented by the amazing pickles! It would be good if there were some nori/wakame in it.
You will find the steel cut oats very different to instant oats because they are a lot chunky like barley oats and the texture is just like creamy rice pudding but with much more fibre.
I don't normally eat at this stretch but was motivated here by Oatis and I am glad I went. Before I visited, tried to phone as well as enquire on instagram. Got a reply on instagram a few weeks later after I had...

I recently visited Otis with my family of four, including a five-year-old with severe food allergies. As we often do, we ordered food for the three of us at Otis and picked up a safe meal for our son from a nearby restaurant. Upon returning to Otis, we were rudely asked to leave because we brought outside food for our allergic child. Despite trying to explain our situation, the staff showed no understanding or empathy for our dilemma.
This experience not only ruined our meal but also our day, as I had to leave without eating the food I had ordered. It was incredibly disappointing and disheartening to be treated this way, especially given the challenges. The store does offer an allergy friendly menu but my son is just so traumatized to eat stuff even if it may be safe. He has had to go to the emergency room several times and won’t even risk it if he thinks it is not safe. He just won’t eat. I hope the owner can have a talk with his staff and hopefully they will not be so difficult and non empathetic to peoples situations. It...
Read moreSadly really bad experience. I got a raspberry jam & peanut butter bowl and then paid for an egg on the side. The lady and I were on definitely on the same page about the egg being on the side and not in the peanut butter & jam bowl, and joked that an egg would be weird in the bowl. Egg then arrived smack in the centre of the bowl, directly in the jam. I laughed it off, asked if I could have it on the side, lady was also chill about it and said it was her fault (which it wasn’t - it happens and was completely fine & wasn’t an issue!) and encourage me to take it back - but then came back with new dish which looked nothing like the first dish, watery, mushy, i’ve attached pictures. The lady even laughed when gave it to me and walked off quickly.
It was pretty inedible, my microwave and I coulda done a better job. £10.50 sadly wasted. I gave back the food, said it wasn’t the lady’s fault but that’s £10.50 totally wasted. Manager saw and agreed, and then I think talked to the chefs?
Sad because I was hoping to really enjoy this place, even past the other negative reviews, & has so much potential! Meant to be a...
