A Great Little Public House Based A Short Walk From Hackney Central, With 10 Room Accommodation Above The Bar. We Arrived For Check In, Where We Were Informed Of All Our Accommodation Needs & Issued A Key For Private Access To The Hotel Area, Without The Need To Walk Through The Bar. This Was Ideal For Coming & Going & Having No Restriction On Time. In Addition We Could Eat & Drink With Discount Due To Our Stay... This Is A Great Idea To Make Your Stay Even More Enjoyable. We Enjoyed A Few Drinks At The Bar, A Great Selection Of Spirits, Craft Beer & Awesome Cocktails. Followed Bu A Burger & Cheesy Fries To Appease Our Appetite. Both Atmosphere & Food Was Great. The Room Above The Bar Was Clean, Comfortable & No Noise From The Bar Could Be Heard At Any Point During Our Stay. All You Need For A Stay Was Included... En Suite, Towels, Toiletries, Great Selection Of Tea & Coffee & Sufficient Storage For Clothes & Cases Etc. The Pub Is Also A Welcome Addition To The Stay... A Great Full English Breakfast Was A Lovely Way To End Our Stay... All Served In The Pub Area With Fruit, Cereal & Bread Buffet Available. A Pleasant Stay, Great Location For The City & Helpful Staff On Hand 👍👍👍

I booked a 4 night stay in the hotel and I have to give it an absolute recommendation to stay at. Staff were very professional and friendly: I arrived in the morning (10) and asked if I could leave my luggage and they checked me in and said I can leave my bag and they will put it in my room once it is cleaned, room should be available 2-3pm (official check in time). I came back around 2pm and room was ready and luggage in. Hackney in general is a beautiful area to stay and is actually a good walking distance from the city center (I walked to Camden/Canary Wharf/ Soho/Kensington etc) but of course you can use the overground/underground or busses as you like. The area has beautiful parks around, many cafes/restaurants/pubs and the area is quiet/safe at night. Rooms are clean, well looked after and cozy with everything you need (kettle/water/tea/coffee included in the room). If you need loads of space or have trouble with stairs this is not for you. I would say tho be mindful of other guests at night as sound proof is not best and there is no night staff around to remind you of your manners. I will stay again!!

This place us great to go to with anyone.. Friends, date, family... Well actually not the best place to bring your kids or pets.. A decent selection of drinks behind the bar with friendly service.. The food is quite nice. Real nice chicken wings. Beware if the kale salad. That's a straight up no go area... The manager actually stated that there had been many complaints about it and was due to change, so depending on when you go, it might have been improved. Hallumi fries are quite nice. Regular fries very nice. Tea is nothing special. Just a bag of twinings or to the similar effect. These days you can get some awesome teas.. But still okay if that's what you really want. Could always just bring your own special tea bag though if you've one better at home 😉 Real cute for a casual date. However beware of the weekends, it can get quite rammed in this lovely little spot. Enjoy!

Having been to this establishment many times and enjoyed the Sunday roast; it’s really sad that on our latest occasion of eating here was such a disappointment. Firstly, there was one person in front of me at the bar and it seemed to take quite a long time to get served - I’m probably only talking 5 minutes but it seemed to take an eternity! Perhaps this set the tone for what was to follow... After ordering drinks and food for me and my partner I was efficiently given the drinks I had ordered, pointed out to the barman where I was sitting and went to sit back down and enjoy a quiet drink with my partner before the food arrived. Had a nice conversation, and had some more conversation, booked a film to watch at the nearby cinema and had some more conversation. Bearing in mind we had ordered c.1:30pm the time was now after 2pm! We were getting very hungry at this stage and could also see another table starting to look over to see where their food was - these were people that had ordered after us! Waited a few more minutes before approaching the kitchen area to say to the bar person that I’d ordered over 40 minutes ago; after he double checked he said we would be served next. All fine and good I thought; another conversation, feeling very hungry, another 10 minutes waiting! Went up again to the kitchen area and asked the chef in the kitchen how long it would be; he said our food was coming! Went to the bar area to say to the bar woman that we’d been waiting an extortionate amount of time - please note, we know establishments get busy on Sunday’s but this wasn’t even half full. Anyway, after saying my piece yet again I was assured we would be next. Right then, more conversation, times now coming up to an hour! My partner decides to have a go and approaches the waiting staff to be told that foods coming soon - another 10 minutes later and food arrives! Not sure if the veggie roast comes with Yorkshire pudding I double checked the menu and it said in the affirmative. So ask the waitress if we could have our Yorkshire puddings (what’s the point of a roast without a Yorkshire pudd - slight technicality!). Finally the Yorkshire puddings arrived - cold, half cooked. By this time we didn’t have the energy to be frank.

What would have worked for us is to be told in advance likely waiting times for food and in this way customer expectations...

Honestly - its AWFUL!!! No idea how they got the 4 stars from Enjoy England. It must have been a LONG LONG time ago. Either that or they are on the brink of bankruptcy and trying to save all the money they can.

I'll start with the food. It seems like they were trying to be authentic with the (half of the) wedges as they were cut from potatoes, but badly. Most of the skin was still on and the "potato eyes" were still in a lot of them. Strangely enough, the rest of the plate seemed to be different wedges (from a packet?). Either way both of the sets of chips within my portion were cold.

Then the Pork. I have heard of rare steak, but never in my life have I heard of rare pork - are they trying to hand out food poisoning? Needless to say i didn't eat it.

The rest of the food including the salad wasn't great, but i will save the details.

So, apparently, its not cool to clean restaurant and hotel toilets anymore?

The rooms were ok, wouldnt give 4star though. Main reason being that it seems they were saving on comfort and detergent as the towels were rock hard, they had obviooulsy been washed, but white towels should not have stains.

Also the room had a lot of condensation.

Not impressed. Would never inflict a recommendation of this place on anyone.

When I told the staff what I thought about the place, they seemed disinterested and the night before at the meal, they insisted i pay for the meal, even though i very civilly put my complaints in.

One very disgruntled customer!!!

DO NOT EAT...

Today 8th of March 2024 as regulars of this pub. This evening we arrived sat on our own. We got approached by a male he asked to kiss me in front of my partner. I replied no it was inappropriate. We made the staff aware as my partner was not happy. The Manager Shannon asked him to leave he refused,10 long minutes later I went out for a cigarette, I did not say anything, he started videoing me against my will I reacted as I did not give permission, the person kicked off, my partner got involved. This should not have happened if the GM did her Job properly he should have been moved on quickly, but instead she decides to ask US to leave. As an ex GM she dealt with it disgustingly!!!! Her female bar staff grabbed me.. IM DISABLED ON A CRUTCH, im now in pain from being grabbed by this girl. THIS SITUATION SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF THE GM HAD DONE HER JOB!!!!! THIS IS DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOUR. I WANT AN APOLOGY!!! My partner would not have reacted if she had the situation under control. This Manager is immature, unprofessional and under qualified. My name is Michelle Noble an I want a response to this complaint. Further more I would like a senior member off your company to contact me in relation to this incident. Not a apology, I want this logged and a formal complaint made, to man handle a disabled person is horrendous. Select your staff more carefully in future. I will be calling your head office...
