I stopped in for a tea whilst I waited to go to an appointment nearby. The peppermint tea was fine, can’t really go wrong with it - price was decent £1.70 for a very large cup. The service was slightly lacking - just super grumpy demeanour. I initially walked past because when I was about to enter I got the dirtiest look, but wasn’t familiar with the area so did not want to stray to far so ended up stopping in. Took it personally initially, thought it may even be racially charged but then saw she was like that with the next customer too - this customer was unhappy with her cake and the waitress eventually gave her discount but reacted poorly saying that’s how it’s meant to be, the customer I think was saying it tasted stale (could be wrong) she literally hadn’t left the counter yet and had a small nibble so I don’t think she was trying to scam. The waitress literally dashed it in the bin so aggressively before refunding. I must say the cakes did not look very petty though I’d been toying with the idea of getting one until I witnessed this exchange. Considering the place was a ghost town it could very much be stale (I went a lunchtime and in the 30 mins I was there it was only me and the aforementioned customer) If they are trying to go for Parisian shabby chic they are seriously lacking the place is literally falling apart and felt a little gross,

Just asked for some food (which looks lovely BTW) but was greeted by a very rude member of staff, ubruptly correcting everything I said in a condescending tone. From this point on I know I will never return, fortunately there's no lack of good coffee shops around Hackney, I really feel staff should try to be nicer when possible when in the midst of fearce competition. It was about 10h30 and the place wasn't busy at all.

My son and I visited this lovely cafe to kill sometime before picking up his exam results. My son had hot chocolate and butter croissants, and I had a mocha and Croque Madam, which was delicious. The staff were friendly, and the service was good with reasonably priced food. It had a lovely ambience and is an ideal place for those who want to get some work done or just have a lovely meal.

I had fond memories of this place but having a straight up ripped off customer service today means I can't in good conscience offer any kind of recommendation.

Being told that an offer was on and then having it retracted with such a straight face means to me that no matter what I enjoyed about this place is now meaningless. I don't even remember feeling the burn of ether like this from a business in a long time.

When a business can't even offer a basic human response of an apology or a resolution over an oversight, you ruin all your goodwill you've built up.

Don't expect anything from the new staff here and quite frankly, I wouldn't expect anything from this small franchise either. It was never about feeding your community but just a straight up...

Coffee is all right.

We came here for lunch and got inspired by the breakfast options.

The veggie breakfast was very good, 3 eggs any style (even poached), vegetarian sausage, grilled vine tomatoes, mushroom and rosemary, new potatoes, rye toast, mixed leaf salad. Very flavourful, fresh and filling.

The Mediterranean breakfast was good as well, but not as good as the veggie one. The olives were a little tasteless and the sausage nothing special - so I definitely recommend the vegetarian option.

The pastries looked really pretty.

I took a veggie quiche to go for lateron. It wasn’t packaged super well, the paper-bag was too thin for a quiche and got a little too soaked through. Other than that, it did travel well and tasted good, I really...
