Brilliant pub. There’s such a fantastic range of drinks available, all with a thorough description on the screens above the bar. Staff are superb, with fast service, friendliness and always willing to help even with the most basic of things like helping carry large orders to the table. Prices aren’t the cheapest in the area but equally they’re far from excessive for the setting and service.
It’s not the largest area inside but they’ve maximise the number of tables available, plus there’s some directly outside as well as across the street which is a wonderful escape in the evening sun. There’s also a small function area downstairs which isn’t to be overlooked for a more intimate gathering. Everywhere is clean and offers a cosy environment. The toilets are underground but in good nick like the rest of the pub, and certainly kept clean.
In recent months this has elevated to one of my favourite pubs in the local area, so while I don’t want to shout about it too much for fear of not getting a table again, I can’t do anything but...
Read moreThis little London pub get the thumbs up from me. Having spotted the menu en route back to our hotel one afternoon we decided to give it a try for an early meal before heading back to the West End to see a show. We arrived at about 5.15pm and thenice lady behind the bar served us our drinks but said that food wasn't served until 6pm when the Chef arrived. We were worried about our timescale but had already got our drinks so decided to stay. We put in our order and decided to have a game of Scrabble to pass the time, what a great idea to have a range of board games for customers, it was a lovely homely atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed the scrabble and our food arrived bang on 6pm.... the Chef had turned up early and the bar staff had warmed the oven ready for him to crack on with our food. The food was delicious too....Well done to the George and Dragon your staff go that extra mile and you are a great little London...
Read moreThis is a real boozer and a diamond in the rough! It has enough decent ale/bitter in nice condition to be worth a trip and even dips its toe into craft ale territory. It does proper pub grub at good prices as well as some pretty eclectic specials. I think they should probably sort out their playlist, but at least but it's played quietly. What's amazing is that it's a couple of minutes walk from Great Portland Street and you can actually get a seat on a Thursday evening after work - unlike pubs like the Albany that get rammed and obnoxious by 5.01! Presumably at some point this place will be bought up and gutted, but for now it's a proper pub with proper Londoners behind the bar. A rare breed these days! Enjoy it...
