After months of seeing reels of this place I had to give it a try. Unfortunately for us Canary Wharf station was closed that day so it did make the journey quite hellish. So it was nice to arrive walking through this garden space up to the restaurant you could hear the music blaring as you were coming through as they have a DJ most nights generally very Techno house vibes. Service was questionable there seem to be lots of staff frantically running about yet if you seem to notice I was trying to get their attention to order drinks. I believe we waited at least 15 minutes for our drinks to come which were lovely but the bar was only about 20 feet from our seats so it seemed quite a long wait. Especially as these drinks are not very complicated. Once they arrived we took a chance to ask to start our order while the waitress was at our table this process was fine we ordered the beef burger Mac and cheese miso salmon and salad as well as calamari. When is eventually arrived I must know this took quite awhile as well one of the burgers was cold so again we had to struggle to get the attention of the staff. And through my poor reading skills this beef burger was in fact a beef brisket which Iāve never had before. I did enjoy it it was nice and full of flavour but very difficult to eat as itās tough to chew through brisket but for the price it was nothing special. The fries were very standard the only thing to say about them is potentially that they were too salty. As many of you no one here Mac and cheese is my favourite food so I was very excited to try this and I have to say it was my favourite part of the meal. It was topped with Parmesan and breadcrumbs and was perfectly crisp and creamy with a strong cheese flavour. My friend who had the salmon said it was nice but lacking in flavour considering it boasted itself as miso salmon. The calamari was nice but again nothing to write home about. The atmosphere in the place was vibrant there was lots of groups who look like they had come after work dinner and drinks and all couples coming for a drink or a bite to eat you couldnāt argue the place wasnāt popular. Just as it came to paying the bill I was recording a story to post on my Instagram and noticed a mouse running across the beams in the background this we knew we had to mention when it came to paying for service etc , and when we did the response āyes thereās two of them they just come from the gardenā. We did in fact remove service as it had been quite poor throughout the night and the mouse had kind of topped it off. Overall I would rate the food is 6.5 out of 10 the value for money are 7 out of 10 this is mainly based on the price of the drinks being reasonable considering itās London and the atmosphere if it wasnāt for the mouse wouldāve been 9 out of 10 but because of that and the fact that it was slightly too loud 8 out of 10. I would come again although probably slightly earlier in the evening around six instead of eight as I feel due to its late opening hours people drink from 10 till 1 am in there.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI don't usually write reviews about bars and restaurants that I visit, especially in Canary Wharf as it always ends up as a great or at least nice/decent experience, however it was the first time I had such a bad experience with staff, especially considering that it was my 26th birthday lunch with two of my closest friends and their child. First, the waiter was rather lost and didn't know the menu well, when we asked questions about tacos and mains he had to read the ingredients of the dishes of the menu that was placed on the table for us. Half of the cocktail list was not available due to a following reason and I quote "We've had a very rough weekend at the bar".
We have arrived at around 16:30. About 17:10 when we just finished our starters and got our first drinks extremely rude and arrogant security staff came to us and told us that we are not allowed to be here with a child after 17:00 and that we have to leave. We told him that we've just ordered drinks and finished our starters, so at least let us finish our drinks and we'll leave in 10 minutes, because no one told us that information before and receptionist didn't indicate that children are not allowed after 17:00. He kept on pressing us and insisting to leave immediately, which was rather disturbing, unprofessional and inadequate. Then the manager came along, who told us that they have a premise licence which does not allow any kids on their premises after 17:00. However, The Licensing Act does not make specific provision about access by children to premises operating under a premises licence, club premises certificate or temporary event notice. So this might have been a policy applied by the venue, but not something that is included into the licensing act. We realised that they just wanted to get rid of us as soon as possible. This made us feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable and we decided to leave because we had no other choice. My beer was 3/4 full and I've asked for a refund- the manager didn't say anything and just went to print the bill for us, however the beer was refunded. But during this time, security person was at our table arguing with me that I've already drunk a bit of my beer and I'm not getting any refund, he was laughing at me and interrupting me and my friend when we tried to solve the situation in the nicest possible manner, however, his behaviour was rather disturbing and absolutely unprofessional.
Just to put it into perspective- it was Wednesday afternoon, there was 2 tables in the restaurant including us and maybe few tables at the bar. We wanted to have a full course lunch and already had a bill of £100 just after starters and some drinks.
After experience as such, I will never consider coming back to this place with or without children. I wouldn't recommend it to a friend or anyone else looking for a nice and professional service. Complaint management was not existent. It completely ruined my birthday. Our energy and emotional state after such a rude encounter was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe celebrated New Yearās Eve at Pergola on the Wharf in Canary Wharf, and the experience was an excellent way to ring in the new year. The evening was a lively affair, with a three-course meal, an hour of bottomless Prosecco, and music provided by a DJ who kept the party going well past midnight.
Ambiance and Atmosphere
The venue was vibrant, packed with energy, and had a fantastic vibe. From the moment we arrived at 8 p.m., the DJ was spinning great music, setting the tone for a festive celebration. The crowd was upbeat, and the atmosphere remained lively throughout the evening, making it a memorable New Yearās celebration.
The Food
The three-course meal offered a variety of choices, and we sampled several dishes: ⢠Starters: I had the chicken starter, which was flavorful and well-seasoned. It came with a pickled mayo dip that added a tangy kick to the dish. My wife ordered the tuna tartare, which was the highlight of the starters. The tuna was fresh, with vibrant lime and avocado flavors that balanced beautifully. ⢠Mains: For the main course, I had the mojito chicken, while my wife opted for the cod curry. ⢠The mojito chicken was a generously portioned dish, likely grilled or roasted, served on a bed of corn purĆ©e blended with other elements that added a subtle sweetness. While the chicken was well-cooked, it was slightly on the dry side and could have benefited from a touch more seasoning. ⢠The cod curry featured a large piece of well-cooked fish and a flavorful curry base. However, the dish lacked balance and could have used a fresh element to lighten the overall flavor profile. ⢠Desserts: For dessert, we tried the chocolate tart and the baked cheesecake. ⢠The baked cheesecake was a standoutālight, airy, and perfectly creamy. ⢠The chocolate tart, while paired with a delicious sesame twirl and cream, felt a bit dense and overcooked. It could have been improved with a softer, more decadent texture.
Service and Overall Experience
Considering the venue was at full capacity for New Yearās Eve, the service was impressively fast and efficient. Despite the large crowd, the kitchen consistently delivered well-executed dishes, and the overall experience felt polished and enjoyable.
Final Thoughts
Pergola on the Wharf delivered a festive and memorable New Yearās Eve experience. The lively atmosphere, excellent music, and thoughtful service made it a great venue to celebrate. While some dishes had minor areas for improvement, the food was overall well-prepared and enjoyable.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars. Perfect for a celebratory night out with good food, great music, and a...
