I recently had the pleasure of dining at Franco Manca, Canary Wharf, and I must say, the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the outstanding service provided by their star waiter Mariam! From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant until the very last bite of our delicious meal, they ensured that our dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary.
Right from the start, their warm and welcoming smile set the tone for a memorable evening. Mariam attentively guided us to our table and took the time to explain the daily specials and recommended some of the most popular dishes. Their genuine enthusiasm for the restaurant's cuisine was contagious and made us even more eager to explore the menu.
Throughout the meal, our waiter was an absolute delight. They were attentive without being intrusive, striking the perfect balance between being available when needed and giving us the space to enjoy our conversation. Despite a bustling restaurant, they managed to make us feel like we were the only customers there, going above and beyond to ensure every aspect of our dining experience was exceptional.
Not only did they expertly manage our orders, but they also offered insightful recommendations based on our preferences, allowing us to try dishes we may not have otherwise chosen. Their knowledge of the ingredients, preparation techniques, and the restaurant's commitment to using fresh, locally sourced produce added a unique dimension to our meal. Furthermore, they flawlessly accommodated specific dietary restrictions within our group, ensuring that everyone enjoyed their food to the fullest.
As the evening drew to a close, Mariam bid us farewell with the same warm smile they greeted us with. We left Franco Manca with full bellies, hearts, and a lasting impression of unparalleled hospitality.
In conclusion, our experience at Franco Manca was elevated to new heights by their star waiter - Mariam. Her dedication, knowledge, and genuine care for her customers created an exceptional dining experience that we will fondly remember.

I went for lunch, quite late, with my family, arriving at about 13:30. Nine of us in total , two under 5s. The food arrived in dribs and drabs. No thought was given to getting the little ones fed first. One of the starters never came but still appeared on the bill, naturally.
My wife was left with no food for 10 minutes after all the other mains were sent out. A member of serving staff finally came and said they didn't have any butternut for the butternut salad. No apology, just asking what she wanted instead. It was clearly not true that there was no butternut, I had seen another member of the serving staff carrying one a few minutes earlier, albeit an uncooked one. I can't understand why it wasn't dealt with earlier. It should have been known when the order was placed or when it got to the kitchen. Why it took until 10 minutes after everyone else had been given their food is completely beyond me. By this point it wasn't worth bringing the salad as the kids were getting near the end of their meals.
The whole thing was a bit of a joke. Slow, inept service. Little communication. Items not arriving but still being charged. The restaurant wasn't busy and wasn't overrun with takeaway orders. There were at least three different members of waiting staff. There was no apology. I can't recommend this to anyone. I hope this isn't representative of the level of service at other branches but I doubt I will go back to Franco Manca at all, certainly not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered for take out and I was delighted they were still okay considering how late it was. Unfortunately it wasnāt what I expected. It looked as if someone just wanted to rush through to close down which was strange because it took them more than 30 minutes to prepare. The pizza wasnāt even cut and I didnāt have any knives where I was staying. Considering it was sourdough you can only imagine the challenge I had to go through to eat it.
Anyway, I canāt comment on the venue or the atmosphere since I wasnāt eating in so Iāll just focus on the pizza:
The dough was good. Burnt in many places (disappointing) but had a good texture.
The sauce lacked in taste. Iām not sure they used fresh tomatoes. And if they did, it was still bland.
The toppings: You can judge from the picture but it left too much to be desired. Someone obviously didnāt want to prepare this pizza. Given how the mushrooms were just tossed in like that I think I should have just rolled the whole thing and ate it like a wrap. Iām glad there was a single leaf of basil though.
Iām normally not picky but Iāve had better sourdough pizzas at the farmers markets with an oven in a truck. This one I felt like I had to force myself to eat even though it was the only thing I had after a...
