My wife and I have been regular patrons at this location and have always been greatly pleased with both the service and the food. Our first time back since my wife had given birth just 2 months ago and I couldn't believe the service from one individual who claimed to be the assistant manager/supervisor. My postpartum wife had brought in a small sealed cup of coffee (note the restaurant does not serve coffee) and the individual told her she could not bring that in. If he had simply allowed her 5 minutes she would have finished it as our party of 4 (including our 2 month old baby) had just ordered 2 appetizers, 3 Ramen dishes, and 2 bottles of sake (food and drinks were yet to be served). I asked if he could make an exception here as he was dealing with a mother who has recently given birth and finally had a chance to go out with our 2 month old and he said no and went on how it would set a precedent to allow everyone to bring in drinks. Clearly the assistant supervisor, who failed to even tell me his name, wanted to stand his ground to what I could only presume was to save face/show of authority to the other staff (who I have to say were nice and were confused as much as we were). When I asked to speak to the supervisor, he said the supervisor was too busy for these trivial matters and that he was the assistant supervisor so any concerns I had were simply going to be dismissed and not get resolved. He went on to further explain how he has a degree in communications (for no apparent reason than to probably make him feel superior or to give him resolve or something). He clearly failed to grasp common human decency and how to speak to patrons especially when dealing with a postpartum mother and her 8 week year on their 2nd ever night out for dinner. On our abrupt exit out, he provided me with a name, Carlos, who I presume is the supervisor who was too busy - granted based on prior reviews, his name was probably Carlos. To add salt to the wound, the assistant supervisor made a back-hand comment of how there are other people waiting outside for a table essentially did not care about losing our business. My wife was on the verge of tears and we had to explain to her how it was not her fault at all. Pretty sure myself and my friend will never come back to this location nor will we recommend this location to our work collegues as . Such a shame as I've always had good food and service here every...
Read moreThe atmosphere was great and the food was astonishing, KARAKA-MEN was great, a sure 85/100, and AKAMARU MODERN was a great 87/100 more depth in flavour compared to the KARAKA-MEN, it may have needed a touch more TARE just to bring the flavours more for the pork-based broth, the toppings are as fresh as they can get, the menu is short and very straight forward and not complicated at all and very informative, the one addition that stood out for me was being able to add more noodles to your meal as you eat, this is amazing for only the value of £2 u can get another portion, and I have opted for 2 more ;)
really good value, however, I would have expected to have a touch more on the toppings as it was a little bit underwhelming, the pork was very nice and tender however u only get 2 slices with a thickness of 2mm in thickness, which is very thin slices. drinks are also quite limited on the soft drinks side however the lychee juice will have to be at the top, especially for the value and the flavour.
My first impression was decent entering the establishment we get a greeting from the front of house staff and also the chefs in the kitchen, service was quite great at the start however as time went on it did feel like we were left behind and not cared for for the duration of the meal and it took me a good 5 min to try to get a staffs attention to try to get more noodles, no check back was prompted or if we needed more drinks or anything else at all for that matter. when we finished our mains and removed the plate we were not offered to see the dessert menu or asked if we wanted dessert. Would like to thank the chefs for the amazing food and especially the Takoyaki it was amazing best one we have ever had. for the ramen you can taste the amount of time they have put into these dishes, you will be having a food coma after coming out of this restaurant as for sure you will not be leaving with an empty stomach, 100% go for the firm noodles option
On that note overall it was a great experience and the food and atmosphere were great I will recommend and go crazy with the toppings and the additional noodle portions as they cook them within 1 min. and will be visiting again shortly, an absolute delight, perfect for dates

Read moreMore like a 3.5 in terms of rating but not quite 4 yet: Normally I am not big on expecting excellence from ramen places but I do think Ippudo handles its ramen broth pretty well. The tonkotsu pork broth was very creamy, rich, and well-seasoned, and the firm noodles offered a very good taste as I ate them together with all the ingredients. The "water" taste was relatively minimal. The pork belly was a bit overcooked and falling apart, by which time I realized there was a bit less meat than I had anticipated but more of the fatty skin part. I just think the broth was a big plus and could make me comfortably say that the ramen I had was great. I know making the tare and the broth takes a long time so while I am not sure Ippudo is exactly following that process, I do see efforts in trying.
Both the chicken kara-age and the takoyaki tasted like what they were supposed to taste like, with the oroshi ponzu sauce providing the chicken with a bit of new flavor on top of the already flavorful chicken. The chicken was juicy, too! Juice was flowing out of the breading as I took a bite. The takoyaki had the standard amount of octopus, which was a tiny bit.
The matcha brownie was not bad, but lacked matcha flavor and was a bit too hard. It took me a bit to cut it open with my fork which I normally wouldn't be expecting from brownies. Based on the fact that it was cold, I thought it might have been frozen previously. It was well-decorated, but the fact that it was frozen most likely affected how hard it was, along with how less tasteful it was. It was still sweet, but like I mentioned previously, lacked matcha flavor.
Another thing I noticed was that the service was slow. It took us a while to get out food. And despite me saying to bring the dessert along with everything else, they still brought out the dessert towards the very end and when we inquired about it, said that they were waiting on us to ask to bring the dessert. Just want to bring it up as a miscommunication instance, but totally not a big deal and it didn't impact my experience...
