I must say, my recent visit to Pino's Warung in Camden Market was a delightful experience. It's not every day that you come across an Indonesian restaurant that upholds such high standards in food preparation, authenticity, spices and presentation. While most Indonesian eating places tend to fall short on one or more of these aspects, Pino's Warung hits the mark in all areas.
Their dedication to freshness is evident in their chicken satay, which is grilled to perfection over charcoal grills upon order. And when it comes to gado-gado, Pino's Warung sticks to tradition, using a pestle and mortar (ulekan) to prepare the dish. The results are nothing short of brilliant and authentic Indonesian street foods that transport your taste buds to the streets of Jakarta.
Being an Indonesian who grew up in Jakarta, I can confidently say that Pino's Warung chicken satay is the closest thing you can get to the real deal on Jakarta's street. Their nasi padang is equally impressive, with a very authentic sambal hijau (green chili paste) and the young jackfruit curry. While the beef rendang could be creamier, it still holds its own.
And let's not forget the Siomay, which is done in Bandung's style and is an absolute delight. I'm already planning my next visit to try out more of their dishes.
In summary, bravo Pino's Warung for keeping the authenticity of Indonesian cuisine alive and delivering it with such...
Read moreCome here if you want to try Indonesian food. This is definitely the place where you can get the most authentic Indonesian food. I’m Indonesian myself so I know what the food they serve suppose to taste like, and believe me they are good! And if you’re looking for Indonesian people just come by to this place and it will be packed by the Indonesians.
I tried the Ayam Geprek and Nasi Padang.
Ayam Geprek: this dish is basically a fried chicken with sambal served with rice. And this dish supposed to be spicy however the sambal is too spicy and I believe other reviewers have mentioned this in their review. If they could add more aromatics, and make it less spicy i think it will be enjoyable to eat.
Nasi Padang: the dish is good, it’s definitely not the same as you can get from Indonesia but the flavour is there. The sambal also spicy considering its supposed to be not very spicy since it supposed to use big green chilli (the less spicy kind), but since there are other flavour from the other condiments, this dish is definitely more enjoyable to eat than the ayam geprek.
There are not a lot of sitting area because the place is small (i guess thats why they call it warung) but you can take your food to the other area in camden and...
Read moreMy 12 year old cousin was sat on the seating provided by Camden Markets, not by the restaurant, while I was waiting for food from the stall next to them. Her feet were hurting as we had been walking around a lot and just needed to sit for a little. The female worker took it upon herself to come out and shout at her that if she wasn’t buying anything to move and go away. I saw that she had come over so went and asked my cousin what she had said and was extremely upset. When I went to ask why she had been asked to move I was then met with abuse from the worker and she started to get closer to me while waving her arms about making me feel threatened and worried about what she would do next. I later found out that the red tables and plastic chairs that are lined throughout that pathway are not property of the restaurants so she had no right to shout at a 12 year old to move. Absolutely disgusting behaviour they should be ashamed...
