Popworld - Watling Street — Restaurant in London

My girlfriend and I got tickets for the 2022/23 NYE event with the promise of great music which was certainly delivered. Drinks were also reasonably priced with a good selection of cocktails. Unfortunately our night came to a very quick end just after midnight with an unjustified attack from a security guard. After the midnight announcement, we headed to the smoking area with our drinks and cheerfully said Happy New Year to all of security outside. All replied with smiles and cheers but before I knew it, I was barged and manhandled around the smoking area by one of the security guards. I had no idea why and later found out it was because I had taken my drink outside. I had been in the smoking area multiple times that night with a drink and each time I asked if i could keep it with me which security allowed. Even if I wasn't allowed, I would have had no problem putting my drink aside with no questions asked if this had been verbally said to me when the incident happened. Once the shock settled I was really upset with the situation and two security guards consoled me and apologised on behalf of the one who manhandled me, who did also later apologise for his actions. I went back inside but soon left because it had spoiled my night. My girlfriend and I picked Popworld to spend NYE because it was queer friendly and we felt safer being somewhere welcoming of us to avoid any late night or drunken mishaps. It's a real shame the night ended as it did and I'd be reluctant to return due to not feeling safe by the people who are there to keep us safe. I hope no one is treated like this at future events as the club...

We attended on 20/7/24 for a birthday party- We booked a table for 15. On arrival at the door, the welcome was lovely and friendly- a great start to the night however, We paid for 2 bottles of prosecco and the 'bringing sexy back' drinks package- which along with the drinks, should have included a partini of sweets and some fun accessories. We didn't get the partini of sweets nor the accessories, which was disappointing because it was what we paid for. We did however get some shots. The bar service was sooooo slow, it was unbelievable. I've personally worked in a club, so I know the score but this was ridiculous. They were definitely short staffed for the amount of people. The worst part was the temperature in the venue. It was way too hot and I mean dangerously hot in there. The air-conditioning system needs to get upgraded as a matter of urgency- it is unsafe!! Its not good for the customers or the staff to have to work in that heat. In the end we all left at around 12am because the temperature was too much, even though I was in a short sleeve top. I have to say, that the music was far better on this night, than it has been previously! Whilst it was a fairly good night out there were issues. I emailed to book a table and my email was forwarded and was told someone would contact me but nobody did. I couldn’t get the booking on the website to work. Few days later and hearing nothing I tried again and it worked. I thought that was it table booked. Apparently this is only the case if you get an email link to pay for it!! No where does it state this. As for cheese well it’s dairylee triangle mild cheese. Not true strong mixed fondue cheese. I was expecting full on cheese not rap and house music and modern stuff too. I am a total lightweight with alcohol. I mean one bottle of bus makes me fuzzy, two I’m tipsy lightweight so a vodka or two and I’m gone. I have seven cocktails. In other places 1 does me. Seven and not even vaguely tipsy. I would say there’s possibly a lot of watering down going on or something. I came with a large group that was drinking a lot and no one felt effects of drink and to be honest didn’t really see the usual...
