Pret A Manger — Restaurant in London

I left in dismay, very sad but I have now read the reviews from other customers and can realise that they are probably like this in general.

Been going to Pret a Manger for years to get both food and drinks. Always had a great experience but nothing like this branch.

My experience: I ordered my drink when I was alone in the queue, one member of staff was cleaning, one chatting and somebody at the till. I checked with the till if the colleague was aware of the order and she turned to what I thought was to make the drink, instead looked around various cups that seemed to have been left behind and proceed to pour milk.

I felt I was going to drink something that had been around for a while so when I mentioned to them I got an overreacted response and got asked several times “how I want the drinks to be made?” and that “they are very busy”.

They became very agitated until they offered a fresh drink to which of course I accepted, other customers arrived to the till at this point as they kept raising their voice. While the drink was made, one of the employees proceeded to say to what appeared another customer how rude I was and that they were about to shout at me, all in Spanish thinking I could not understand (I was shocked but I speak the language so I responded) he then became more agitated and continued to create a scene and make remarks about accent when realised I could speak the language. (He didnt know if I could talk the language so remarks about accent were not even considered when he began to say untruthful facts to another customer)

I kept saying I did not want to drink something that had been left around for I dont know how long and that I saw how the employee took a random cup to pour hot milk.

It felt like they had been caught and got defensive about it, but I did not feel like being diminished and humiliated for raising a concern so I defended myself but it seemed the whole situation...

I'm writing to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service I consistently receive at this Pret location. The staff are unfailingly professional and kind, and the store is always spotlessly clean. I particularly appreciate how well-stocked the fridges are with fresh food and pastries. The baristas provide fast and efficient service, and the supervisor remains remarkably attentive, even during late Sunday shifts. This truly stands out as one of the best Pret locations I've ever visited. However, I also need to bring a concerning incident to your attention. Today, another customer and I witnessed both staff member on shift being verbally harassed by an aggressive individual who appeared to be in a distressed state. It was clear that this incident caused significant stress to your team. I believe it's crucial for management to be aware of the challenges your staff face, particularly when dealing with difficult customers. They work incredibly hard, and their well-being is paramount. I respectfully urge you to ensure your team receives the support and protection they deserve, especially given the emotional toll such interactions can take. Staff is racist. I just been here to buy a sandwich 5 minutes ago. I am waiting at the counter to be served and no one comes to attend me. Then a white lady comes in and a white looking man behind the counter goes and looked at her and started to serve her. I interrupted and said to the man I was here first. Then the man started serving me very unpleasantly. You can tell he did not want to serve me for no reason. I was very offended. The staff at this place is rude and racist. I asked if they do meal deals. And then he said they dont do discounts. I said to him I dont want a discount, I am asking for a meal deal. He acted he didnt understand. I couldnt be bothered, I collected my sandwich and left. This is very sad that there is people like that working in customer services in 21st century.
