Went here for a meal last night.
We phoned and were told it opened at 5:30 however as we were staying just over the road we mistimed it got there at 5:27, there were a couple in the restaurant already seated at the front by the window. One of the staff emptying rubbish then ushered us in..
So we went in and sat where we asked to, only to be then told off by the hostess that they don't open until 5:30, so wow we were a couple of minutes early. What a faux pas.
Not a great start.
My fiancee's chicken satay starter was nice and she loved the home made satay sauce however the chicken wasn't hot which took away the enjoyment.
She ordered two starters as she isn't a big eater and also ordered the Tempura king prawn starter, the batter was normal thick batter definitely not tempura.
The prawns were lovely except for the same problem as the first starter, they weren't hot. Spoiled the meal.
I had the thai fish cakes for starter which were very nice.
For mains I fancied some heat and ordered the hot southern curry with braised beef.
The curry was nice and also hot temp and chilli wise but unfortunately the meat was full of tendons and gristle. I know it's braised beef which is long and slow cooking of cheaper cuts but use better meat or trim it is my suggestion.
After pulling the chewy bits out for a few bites I realised I wasn't enjoying it and left more than half of it. I pointed out the issue to several of the wait staff.
No offer to replace it or swap it for something more palatable so I paid the bill in full and we left after around half an hour.
I suspect that as they served everything together my partners meals had been laying around waiting for my meals to cook, not a great idea guys if I am correct.
A bit sad I expected more based on your reviews. I get no enjoyment leaving a bad review and hope you take the feedback as constructive and learn from it.
You need to lift your game in the areas outlined above in my humble...
Read moreWhat a great find Raitakrai was tonight. We were working our way back from Putney to Chelsea Harbour; walking, hiring Santander Cycles, popping in to bars for a glass of red, hired bikes again and then searched for Indian restaurants near me....passed a couple, didn't stop and then having had to dock the bikes to avoid the going over the 30 minutes we stopped and had a wander around the Earl's Court area, close to the post office and saw Raitakrai, a Thai restaurant; so not really what we'd been looking for or what we'd fancied initially.
It had a menu outside and there were a dozen or so people sat inside, so we wandered in. Nice friendly welcome, shown to a nice table to two and our evening began.
A bottle of carbanet sauvignon blanc, nicely chilled and then our orders. Great friendly service from attentive staff. We had the dim sum to start with accompanied by soy sauce and some mildy chilli prawn crackers.
Then our mains, both duck, yellow noodles for Mrs G and Singapore noodles for me. Lovely, cooked just right.
We had an excellent evening at Raitakrai, it's only re-opened following the pandemic in recent weeks. We hope they make a su9of their re-opening, it was established in 1933, no reason why it shouldn't be here for it's centenary. Great food, great staff 👍
It has a 5 star hygiene rating and just across the road there is Santander Cycle docking station, so no need to pay for a cab or have too long a walk if you don't fancy it 🚵
Probably the best Thai food we've had since our holiday to Phuket a...
Read moreI visited for dinner on a Friday. We had booked ahead but this didn’t seem essential as it was only half full. We were 2 adults and 2 young kids and between us ordered the calamari, chicken satay, chicken green curry, lamb (chop) curry, Kao Soi beef, pineapple fried rice and some garlic ginger rice. Views were mixed on the food. The lamb chop curry was really flavourful and the meat well cooked, and we enjoyed the Kao Soi as well. The green curry was quite weak though and the chicken itself seemed bland and dry (possibly reheated). The same chicken was present in the satay as well as the pineapple rice, both of which were quite unexciting as well.
Service was relatively friendly for a hole in the wall type place and food was delivered at a quick pace but we had arrived ahead of most others and I did notice things getting slower towards the end of our meal. The bill for our dinner came to £129 of which £25 was spent on drinks. Very reasonable considering the amount of food we ordered. Overall though it was too inconsistent and I don’t think I would return, especially with so many other Thai options in the neighbourhood (e.g. a recent visit to 101 Thai Kitchen was far...
