We had dinner here twice on our stay in London, since we liked it so much the first time. The first dinner we had spring and summer rolls as starters, both very tasty. The spring rolls hot and crispy with a nice sweet chilli sauce, and the summer rolls fresh and crunchy with a spicy chilli sauce. For mains, we had the crab stir fry, veg&tofu cashew stir fry, and red chicken curry. All delicious, but the cashew stir fry and red curry were our favourites, so we ordered those again the second day 😋 The veg&tofu option of the cashew stir fry came with a few different veggies and (deep?) fried tofu that actually had a bit of a bite to it, very nice. The red curry had a few veggies too, and was so flavourful. Probably the best one I've ever had! The egg fried rice was good too. One thing we really appreciated were the veggies. Most of the time it's difficult to get a reasonable serving of veggies when eating out. Vietnamese is a common exception, but we had doubts when we checked the menus of those restaurants in the neighbourhood. Rosa's menu with sides of stir fried broccoli and mixed vegetables was very enticing. And those didn't disappoint! The broccoli's sauce with garlic, rice wine, chilli and shallots was delicious and pleasantly spicy. The mixed veggies were tasty and had a nice bite to them. Also, I'd definitely recommend trying the home made lemon ice tea. It's a nice big serving that will last you the meal. We did feel that the waiters were a bit eager to and hasty when taking away plates. The first day a bit of leftover broccoli sauce got splashed and stained a white blouse. The second day, plates bumped another plate and a glass, but luckily no accidents happened 😅 All in all we had a great time so it's a pity we were only on holidays, otherwise I'd definitely go again. Now I'll have to try to find just as tasty a Thai back home, or travel to London again,...
Read moreI've been to this branch of Rosa three times already and I've thoroughly enjoyed it each it time.
I recommend the Kao Mun Gai, a Thai variation of the hainanese chicken rice as this restaurant does it very well.
Today, I came with my friends and we had the prawn crackers to start which came with peanut sauce. For main, we ordered Kao Mun Gai, Red curry with Pork and Tom Yum noodle soup with chicken. The Kao Mun Gai was amazing, with very tender and flavourful chicken that melts and it paired especially well with the spicy sauce which was spicy with a tangy kick, it also came chicken broth soup. The Red curry was great, in my opinion it leaned more towards the sweet side but also had a nice kick of spice. It does not come with rice but there are a few rice options like sticky rice, jasmine rice and coconut rice etc. I feel that the Tom Yum Noodle soup was quite mild in flavour but still had the spicy sour kick it's known for, but again this is my own opinion and my friend enjoyed it very much which is all that matters. Of course this is not a problem as there were condiments on the table such as fish sauce and chili oil, so you can season it in the way you like.
For dessert we had a very fragrant coconut ice-cream despite being full. I also ordered Thai Tea with tapioca, it tastes just like the Thai tea in Thailand and very sweet, unfortunately the tapioca was not cooked through but I still enjoyed it.
Overall, I've enjoyed the dishes and would come back again, it would be difficult to try other things since the Kao Mun Gai so good. The waiters were also super friendly and the food came out at a good time. There are also options to take away of you do not want to dine in. I'm not sure about parking since the restaurant is located right next to the busy road but walking to it from public transport is not difficult.
Would recommend and I would come back...
Read moreI was really looking forward to eating at Rosa's Greenwich due to all of the good reviews but unfortunately it was a big disappointment.
When we got there we weren't greeted, the server Chloe seemed to have a bit of an attitude and seemed surprised that we had made a reservation. I noticed that the ladies that arrived just after us received the same reception.
We started with the classic serving platter. We had a voucher for this. The only things that I enjoyed were the prawn crackers and the pork skewers. The calamari was over cooked and very chewy. The other items were just bland.
For mains we ordered one pad Thai and one Khao pad. My pad Thai was okay. I ate it because I was hungry. Pad Thai is a favourite of mine usually but this was very disappointing. My friend had the Khao pad which he actually sent back because it was so bland and tasteless (I tried it too).
Upon wanting to pay the bill my friend told Chloe that we wouldn't be paying for the Khao pad, as it was sent back. She said she couldn't remove it from the system so would give us 50% off and remove the service charge and stated that then the price would be equal. My friend disagreed with her and told her to calculate it. She was trying to over charge us by approximately £9. This started a bit of an issue but was rectified when she actually calculated the price and realised we were right.
Due to the food and service I wouldn't recommend Rosa's. I struggle to see how the Thai food there is authentic, I could very easily replicate the food at home myself to a better standard. So please don't...
