The Alice — Restaurant in London

Horrible experience!!! Went there with my friend bear in mind I am vegan since 2 yrs now and he has a nut allergy. I ordered a vegan pizza cone and made sure the nut allergy was double checked I got my pizza, which appeared to have a really stringy cheese. I asked the waiter if he was sure that pizza was vegan. And it was confirmed by them it was. Went back to my seat, happy thinking how much the vegan cheese industry has been improved. Until the waiter comes back to inform me that my pizza was done with a normal mozzarella. I then asked to speak to a manager who was trying to explain me that my pizza didn't have mozzarella but cheddar instead! After highlighting that being vegan means I don't eat any kind of cheese, he said he would double check again with the kitchen because he was not sure. Came back after few minutes casually telling me it was normal cheese, but apologized and refund me the pizza price, so after asking me is it bad? !? Now, dear Stongate, I I know there is a crisis and we are all trying to save money but you really shouldn 't save money on training your people! So I’ve been toying with the idea of a review for awhile, was definitely deserved but not till I knew exactly what to say. Me and My boss come here basically daily when we’re working local as we fell in love with the beefy blue burger, however that wasn’t the main reason we kept going. Whilst the food is impeccable and the prices are appealing the main reason we find ourselves returning is the staff. If you want to walk into a restaurant/bar and have a chat with some amazing people coming out feeling like you’re part of the family then this is the place for you. They’ve made us feel welcome, we’ve had several laughs and I’d genuinely consider them the nicest people I’ve ever met. If you just want food and a dead atmosphere then look elsewhere, but if you want to be able to walk into a place and come out feeling like you’ve just made memories and shared some time with some incredible people then this is by far the place to be. I live 3hrs away and without hesitation would drive up just to get some food and chat to everyone. Love the staff, love the food. Here’s to many more beefy blues and many more good times shared! Arrived at a beautiful venue, well appointed, clean and well maintained. Upon walking up-to the bar, we were greeted by bar staff and manager with a smile and friendly demeanour. They answered our questions without any issue and made us feel extremely welcome. Once deciding on our food and drinks we made our way back to the bar where we again were served with a smile. Food arrived, and we were extremely happy with the quality and portion size for the price. Upon returning to the bar speaking with the (we presume) manager talking about our choices of spirit to go with our dessert, he was very happy to spend time talking about the range, and discuss what spirits and drinks we all liked.

I have been into many a pub over the years and this is the first time i have felt "at home" from the start, having never been there before i instantly felt like i was a regular and treated as-if i had been there a thousand times.
