I recently called to inquire about hosting an event, but unfortunately, my experience with the manager, Ali, was extremely disappointing. Given that the venue hosts events, I assumed calling during business hours would be standard practice. However, Ali was abrupt and dismissive, stating, "I'm not really thinking about that now, call at 12 PM!" I immediately apologized for any misunderstanding, but she cut me off, rudely saying, "well Google says we open at 12 PM," before abruptly hanging up.

If inquiries are not welcome outside of specific hours, it would be more professional not to answer the phone rather than respond in such a discourteous manner. When I called back after 12 PM to provide feedback, she remained indifferent and did not offer any apology for the way she had handled the situation and repeatedly defended her poor behavior.

What’s even more surprising is how highly rated this place is—I would have expected a much better level of customer service based on the reviews. This experience has completely put us off from hosting any events here or booking tables, which is disappointing. It's worth noting that I had spoken to another staff member previously who was very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, this interaction has left a lasting negative impression, and I would strongly advise others to consider alternative venues where customer service...

Avoid at All Cost

This has to be the worst pub ever, where the ratings came from is beyond me.

Wanted to bring our team to an authentic pub that have never been to the UK before. Rating and photos looked promising.

First of all I have experienced a more lively atmosphere in a funeral parlour. Since there were 10 of us we had to sit upstairs on the second floor. On the second floor we could order food but not drinks … so down we go again only to experience half the beers were not available.

Some of our team ordered food however it would only appear two at a time. Check out the filthy menu photo (attached). Is there no pride? The ladies had ordered salads and when they asked for dressing they were told they have salt. The pub had no dressing other than old rancid malt vinegar with blobs of whatever in the bottle (attached). How can any restaurant offer a dry salad and no dressing? Many of us did not eat and waited until we went to another location.

Looking for the toilets? Follow your nose .. disgusting.

Seriously, this was the worst experience in a pub and a total embarrassment to take our team to.

With so many great pubs in London it is a shame that the potential of this pub has been...

I think I was nearly poisoned there today. My sausage and mash had one sausage that took the strength of an arm wrestler to cut. I took a bite from the piece I'd hewn off, but it was inedible. I took it to the bar to show the staff. The reaction I got was they agreed it looked bad and commented that there was a terrible smell coming from it. And that was the end of it for them. I asked for the cook to be informed and got a vague apology and no more. That this was a third of the dish seemed of no importance. There was no offer of any replacement or alternative. I was just left to scrape potato and gravy from around it. And a couple of hours on, I'm feeling slightly nauseous. Hopefully it'll pass (one way or another) and I'll not have food poisoning. But for quality and service - the Champion, Wells Street, nil...

Really lovely pub! Beautiful interiors and great staff (even though on a Saturday afternoon they seemed really understaffed as they were running around up and down to serve food and drinks - yet always with a smile). Affordable beers for the location. Disappointed by the chips... £5.50 for less than 10 medium sized chips, count them yourself. Server was great but kinda left chips there and ran off, I would have loved to ask for some mayo with the ketchup that came with it, but they had to serve on their own far too many people and instantly disappeared, so even though I don't blame them, i blame who does the rota and the portions.

When you walk into a beautiful pub and are filled with admiration, then realise that it’s owned by Sam Smith!!! The only beer of theirs that I can drink is the Organic Wheat Beer, which is good, but way too expensive at £6.70 a pint. I respect the wish to encourage pub chat, but the draconian rules regarding electronic devices are ridiculous. Staff are in fear of being fired for allowing customers to look at their phones or take pictures. Lovely staff, beautiful pub, shame about the beer choice, prices and rules.
