🚇 Goodge Street 🍺 £5.80 Moretti ❤️ A vibrant contemporary pub away from the madding crowds. . The College Arms is located in a leafy side street on the border between Fitzrovia and Bloomsbury just off Tottenham Court Road. There are five tube stations close by with Goodge Street being the closest, it’s only a five minute walk to get here. If you fancy a bit of sightseeing as part of your visit here, why not take a gentle stroll around idyllic Bedford Square and marvel at the Georgian buildings. . This pub is housed in a simple building and was probably built in the 1930’s due to to the Artdeco design of the windows. I like this pubs frontage, even though it isn’t in keeping with the upper floors, it is very inviting and has ornate columns at either end. . Inside there is a contemporary and quirky feel with lots of details to catch your eye. As you walk in to the pub on the right hand side is the bar, it has a tropical feel to it with washed timbers and ivy strewn around the edges. Opposite the bar are poser tables and a tiled wall explaining the beer making process on it, at the rear of the pub is a raised area which has comfy sofas and is divided into more intimate seating areas. For the sports fans there are six large screens, most screens have good viewing positions. There is also a downstairs bar which is available for hire. . The beer choice was pretty good, there were all the usual favourites, 2 cask options for cultured drinkers and lots of rotating craft options for the more adventurous. I went for an old favourite of mine a Moretti, it was a good pint and cost south of six quid. As this was my last pub of the day I was in need of some sustenance and ordered some fish & chips. The food was great and reasonably priced at £13.50. The menu here is American style with burgers, pizzas, wings and lots of comfort food choices. This pub is part of the Stonegate group of pubs which means you’ll always find loads of food and drinks deals and promotions on here. . The service here was great, the staff were upbeat and courteous. I visited late afternoon on a Saturday and there was a relaxing vibe with a dozen or so punters in attendance. Due to the pubs proximity to University College London and other seats of learning the crowd is generally a younger one and this place livens up at night. . From the outside @thecollegearmspub looked as if I was in for a ordinary pub experience but this was not the case. This pub has a mixture of new and old and has a vibrant contemporary interior which makes for a pleasant pub experience. My food and pint were great and not overly priced which in central London is a wonderful thing. If you’re in and around The Tottenham Court Road area and want to get away from it all then head over to The College Arms, you won’t be disappointed. . 📊 Information correct on...
Read moreAbsolutely awful management. The lovely asian bartender who was extremely efficient in her job had 60 people walk in all at once and the card machines weren’t working. The next thing you know the mangers walk in and start having a go at her about how it’s all her fault and how the ice running out is her fault as well as everything else. In my personal opinion the bigger sized manager needs to control herself and understand that 30 min smoke and coffee breaks every hour are unacceptable in this type of business and also understand that the asian bartender is a better and faster bartender than the managers and personally she should be employed at a cocktail bar that is more suited to her. And even though the bartender kept being bullied by the managers she still kept her cool and carried on interacting with guests and ensuring that they are comfortable and safe even if her managers were on her c. So in conclusion if the bar was ran by the bartender it would be an amazing bar but the only thing that is stopping it is the attitude of the managers towards their guests and staff ( especially the fatter one cuz honestly her speed and her attitude towards her guests and also trying to entering her own tip into the card machines are uncalled for as well as her judgmental looks towards the guests). If there was a way for the bartender to get 5* i would give her all the stars I’m able to but because this goes to the managers they get 1* has 0* aren’t possible. I’m hoping that the bartender takes her clientele with her as she progresses in another business because honestly this pub/ bar isn’t for her and the managers need to understand that the majority of the guests love her and actually want to be...
Read moreCame for a big group Christmas dinner on Saturday and can say with my hand on my heart, this was one of the worst meals I've had in London with abysmal service.
It was just re-heated awfulness on everyones plate and looked terrible. My partner had the (barely warm) salmon and said the texture was really tough and his vegetables were almost stone cold.
I had the turkey roast which came out looking comically unappetising with a couple of luke-warm, puffed up vegetables dotted around the plate. The turkey was horribly stringy and the gravy tasted like it had about 3 tablespoons of salt in it.
What made this even worse, is that I stopped eating after a few mouthfuls because I couldn't bring myself to eat such terrible food. When the waitresses cleared the table, they saw I'd left my entire meal and said..... absolutely nothing. No ' was something wrong with your meal?' at all, not a word. I was gobsmacked.
Though I considered complaining at the bar, I ultimately decided against as the waitresses had already demonstrated such a complete lack of basic customer service, I assumed they'd do absolutely nothing about it. Instead, hoping this review will deter others away from a truly awful meal out.
Save yourself the bad experience, do not step foot...
