Our visit to The Life Goddess was a disappointment. Though we'd heard much about the place, whose ambiance is indeed highly promising, both the service and the food were mediocre, to say the least. The list of options in the menu was already quite short, and some of the dishes were not being served on the day. Service was very slow - we had to wait about one hour and 20 mins since we sat down for our mains to be served. And when we (twice) asked the staff what caused the delay, instead of apologising, their initial response was to blame it on the fact that we'd ordered a "chicken salad", which "takes at least 20 mins to prepare"... When our food did come, the portions were tiny and the taste was just indifferent. We asked for some mustard, but they did not have any. No dessert or other digestive was offered to us, and the waitress just brought us the bill, as the place was about to close. The waiter only apologised to us about the delay after he'd realised how unsatisfied we were. Finally, very bad ventilation system, as all our clothes smelled intensely of food the moment we walked out. Overall, it's a shame because this place does look lovely and the idea of having a Mediterranean/Greek, high-quality cuisine in Bloomsbury was...
Read moreFood was okay, not traditional Greek dishes. They're more like Greek fusion food. I wasn't particularly impressed with The Greek Meze (to share) platter, none of the dips really stood out - not great for the money you're paying for.
As for the mains, I like the lobster gnocchi with truffle sauce. The gnocchis were cooked well, retaining a bit of a chewy texture - great with the sauce!
Octopus stifado was tender but I don't think the sauce go well with the octopus. I guess octopus are best just grilled!
The lamb in the Kleftiko was delicious, nice and tender. But the flavour overall could have been a bit stronger - smaller chunks of potatoes could help as they're quite tasteless.
Dessert portions were very generous. The best one by far was the Angel hair, namely Kataifi, it wasn't excessively sweet and the pastry retained a crispy texture. It went well with the ice cream served on top.
We went there when only outdoor seatings were allowed a few weeks ago. The table was pretty small for the five of us, not the most comfortable dinning experience I have to say. On the upside, the service was very friendly and quick.
Though I probably wouldn't come back for the food, I don't think they quite match the money...
Read moreThis was a lucky find. We walked in off the street not expecting too much as it was early evening and only one table was occupied by customers. Well! All of it was outstanding - the food, the service, the restaurant, the atmosphere - everything! We had a bottle of Greek red wine - recommended by our server when she saw that we were having lamb shank. This was my first taste of Greek wine and it complemented the meal perfectly. The food arrived as it was ready - which we love - and each plateful was a visual delight and taste sensation. A starter of squid and flava beans was perfectly cooked, handled delicately and melted in my husband's mouth. The lamb shank was tender to the point of falling off the bone, the accompanying pasta wss absolute perfection - light, flavourful tomato sauce and tender and yet still al dente! Our only regret and, this was an actual regret of my husband, was that we did not have time to enjoy a dessert as we had tickets to Moulin Rouge (amazing!!). We will return at some point in the future to have a full three course meal. A shout out to servers Fabiola, Lelia and Spuros who made this one of the very few best restaurants I...
