AVOID this pub at all costs!!! Terrible experience. They will not fulfil what you agree on email (even if this is written in a pdf by them), charge you more (even after telling you they will reduce the cost in your face) and the customer service is terrible!!

I made a reservation for my 40th birthday two months before the event in one of the rooms. The manager Andrea sent me some options for a set menu they offer. I decided for one menu for £21.5 per person and I made a change in the menu to have a fish option rather than so many potatoes. He emailed it was fine and agreed that the change was ok and offered me a package of 4 bottles of Prosecco for £120. To my surprise when I emailed a week before the event to confirm the menu for 22 people, they stated that they will increase the price to £23 per person. That was not agreed when I reserved the pub room and I explained via email. They kept insisting and I sent them the dated email to confirm what was agreed.

I arrived at the place and there was one server in the private room which was ok, but then we got another server later in the night with a bad attitude and the third it was even more rude. The food came and they served all the plates that were part of the menu, but not the chicken. No one told me that was going to be the case which I am still confused what was the reason. There was only one small tray of calamari and one for fish. They didn’t make up for the chicken portion that was not served and didn’t double up on anything else. I of course flagged it to the server. The salad had no avocado, there was an option with artichoke which was not served and the lettuce was not fresh. I still had some guests 25 min or so before the closure time, when the first server gave me the bill and said no rush. I was still talking to some of my guests, so I told him I will take care later. He came back only a few min later to insist on me paying the bill. I said I will do it as soon as everyone left. Then just a few min later the third server very rudely said that he will take off all the decor, but I had to pay now. I went to see the bill and they charged me £128 for the Prosecco package and they decided to take off only 2 portions because I told them they had no served the chicken. They charged me £22.5 for the food per person. I said that was not what we agreed and it was £21.5 (I had to show him the email and thats written by the pub on the pdf menu that was sent to me). There was no chicken and the price was higher, unbelievable. I asked how much was the service since I was confused why they will charge a percentage service with the old price and not the amended price. The manager Angelo said he will take off the service because it seemed I was not happy. Wow he has some nerves. That was the bare minimum he could do for such a rude and disgusting manner to treat customers and ripped them off. I paid the bill, while my last two guests were listening. Awful experience and Angelo gaslighting me that perhaps we will have to stay until 1am arranging the bill. Again to my surprise when I got home, I realised they didn’t fulfil their word even after Angelo told me in my face he will amend the cost. In the final bill and receipt which I kept, I was charged £128 for Prosecco and 19 portions for £22.5. What a dishonest and terrible customer service. I won’t go back ever again and please be aware of the unbelievable dishonesty from managers, low quality food and terrible service. Not recommend...

We recently visited the Engineer and were unfortunately disappointed in our experience.

We ordered a drink each as well as some food. When the drinks were brought, I immediately noticed my wine was in a smaller portion than what I ordered. It took quite a while to get our drinks too so I decided not to complain and just make sure I got charged fairly at the end for my smaller drink. When I tasted my wine, it tasted odd and I really disliked it which was odd because I often drink the sort of wine I ordered. But okay. Sometimes wines can be different. My partner also had a Camden beer mug although he ordered a different brewery's beer - but again, okay, that doesn't really say much about the beer. He actually doesn't like Camden beer very much though and he also commented that he was disappointed in the beer he got.

We then got our food, which was mediocre at best.

Upon receiving our bill, we noticed it was much higher than we expected. We took a closer look and sure enough - we had gotten the wrong beer and wine order. The restaurant changed my price to reflect the wine I originally ordered, but actually charged my boyfriend the price of the more expensive beer. We said it was fine but honestly... we both ended up paying for drinks we didn't even like. We went to another bar as a palate cleanser to a somewhat negative experience and the bartender there said that he was shocked that the Engineer didn't just strike those drinks from our bill, since we never even wanted them and had no way of knowing they were the wrong ones. Now that I think about it... I agree with him.

The people working there were nice enough and I'm sure this was just an honest mistake. But I think it should have been dealt with better.

That being said, we're not writing it off... we'll give it another shot, just maybe not during the summertime while it's crowded and mistakes are...

🚇 Chalk Farm 🍺 £6.10 Pravha ❤️ A quality Primrose Hill boozer and great all rounder. . Located on a leafy street and close to Regents Canal is The Engineer Pub. The nearest tube is Chalk Farm which is just under a ten minute walk away. . This pub was built mid 19th century and is named after Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The pub was modernised in the early 90’s to protect its future and taken over by hospitality heavyweights Mitchell’s & Butler’s in 2011. . The decor here is contemporary with some funky furniture and wallpaper. The servery is L shaped and has ornate traditional glass cases at the back. The ground floor has a cosy drinking area on the right and a narrow dining area on the left, upstairs there is a boldly decorated additional dining area. At the rear is a large beer garden complete with TV. . Even though this pub is food centric, beer drinkers are well looked after. There are plenty of keg and craft options plus three cask to choose from, I had a pint of Prahva which hit the spot and cost just over £6. The food menu is a combination of pub classics and more adventurous gastro-style dishes, Fish & Chips costs £17. . The atmosphere here was excellent, there was a real buzz around every nook and cranny. The pubs was packed with people from all walks of life. At the bar were a couple of Texan’s chatting to a local chap, two large groups on a Christmas beano and lots of diners on Christmas do’s. . Primrose Hill pubs are synonymous with dining experiences, but after touring the area I’ve come to the conclusion that this leafy enclave is a great place to come for a drink too. @theengineerpub cemented my thoughts on this, this pub felt like a pub and not a restaurant which was rubber stamped by all the punters who were here for a beer and not for the deer. This is a quality pub and a great all rounder. . ℹ️ Info correct on...

Interesting name for a pub but it has it's history and is at the corner of a quiet neighborhood. It's like a maze inside with us taking frequent turns to enter the good sized outdoor seating space. It was pretty comfortable outside on the couch with heaters and blankets. They don't disappoint in the drinks department as expected but the food left me disappointed. I got the fish and chips in which the fish fillet was pretty thin and the batter was very greasy. The chips advertised as "triple cooked" didn't seem so and were not crispy and felt like a portion of frozen chips dumped in oil and then on my plate. Sourdough bread was ok. The veggie burger was burnt to ashes along with the bun and when a member of staff was called to give feedback, they tried to reason it out by saying that burger patties are usually well done ignoring the black layer on both the party and the bun. They took it back and we didn't order another one. The sausages and mash and scallops were good. The Basque cheesecake was not caramelised enough and didn't hit the mark with us. The place is pet friendly and is clearly a hit with people seeing the crowds coming in as the evening progressed but the interiors need better lighting and a proper clean/ventilation to clear out that lingering unpleasant smell in it. Best stick to the drinks menu and head out for your food as we didn't feel it was at par with the prices we paid.

A friend had been here before and recommend it, so we stopped there for lunch. Like everything else at the moment, walk in scan and wait. We got seated outside, immediately took our drink order, then 10 minutes later someone else came along to take our drink order again. We explained we had ordered and waiting, so they took our food order. 30 minutes later we were still waiting for our drinks! We had to remind the staff we were still waiting. Drinks came along just before the food. The reason they get 2 stars is because the starter - sausage roll was actually delicious!! We found out they don't make them they get them from the local butcher. So whoever you are, amazing! Keep it up. Then the mains came along, I ordered the cheeseburger and what a shame that was! They had tried to toast the bun but instead burnt it. The meat was dry and even the cheese was burnt! It was like licking an old BBQ that had never been cleaned! Very disappointing. The staff didn't even bother to come and ask if everything was okay with our meals or if we wanted more drinks. We skipped dessert and went to another pub for more drinks. Poor service, poor good, just poor.
