🚇 Hoxton 🍺 £6.20 Asahi ❤️ Hoxton estate pub turned club. . The Lion & Lamb is located in the middle of the Pitfield Estate in Hoxton. The nearest station is Hoxton which is a five minute walk away. . This is a classic post war built estate pub which is a rare find in London these days. The pub closed in 2015 and reopened 2018 with an approach to move with the shift in demographic of the Hoxton/Shoreditch pub goer. . The decor here is an eclectic mix of old and new. There are oldschool wooden booth benches and worn down chesterfields to chill out on. The walls are painted black and red and there is a DJ booth at the far end of the bar. . The beer line up was pretty good, I had a pint of Asahi which was nice enough and cheaper price than usual for Asahi. . I visited around 7pm with my brother after a crawl around the area. On entering there was a charge to get in, I explained we were just popping in for a quick pint and the lady on the door kindly waived us in. We were served by a very polite fella behind the bar, we took a seat and took stock of our surroundings. We were soon joined by the pub dog Bruno, a lovely natured Staffy who was after a bit of attention which he received loads of from me and my brother. After a little deliberation my brother and I soon came to the conclusion that this was more club than pub and enjoyed our pints and the vibe here none the less. . The Lion & Lamb is a destination for fans of House, Garage and dance music, 25 years ago I couldn’t have been a regular. This place would have never survived if it continued down the traditional pub route as that type of punter just isn’t here anymore. So is this a pub? The building is, for me this place is more club than pub. . ℹ️ Info correct on...

We arrived 10 minutes late for our 9pm entry ticket, and were unexpectedly asked for £20 in cash by the door staff. No explanation was given beyond 'because you're late' - despite the unwritten rule in London that if you 10 minutes late for a ticket-with-entrance-time, you're let through with the original ticket.
We handed over the £20 cash, only to be told it was £20 each, which was shocking and completely unjustified - especially since we could still buy pre-10PM tickets online for £18.50.
When we asked for our money back and pointed this out, the door lady eventually let us through - but the damage was done.
The most concerning part? The bar doesn’t even accept cash, and later staff inside told us that door personnel shouldn’t be charging anything near to this much extra in cash for lateness. That makes the whole thing feel incredibly shady - like the cash isn’t going through the proper channels.
Lion and Lamb, this experience was unprofessional and damaging to your brand. If this was an honest mistake, it shouldn’t be happening at the front door. If it wasn’t, then it’s something much worse.
Sort it out. Don't make your customers feel like your door people are trying to extort...
Read moreThis music venue strikes an excellent balance for moderate gigs, boasting a high-quality, crisp sound system that truly enhances the live music experience. It's good to have a seating area with tables, providing a comfortable space to relax and unwind when needed.
The crowd is usually good. However, there's a notable issue with the ambience, primarily due to the non-stop talking in the music area. This can be quite disrespectful to the DJ and others who are there to immerse themselves in the music, especially considering there's a dedicated area for conversations.
Additionally, potential visitors should be aware that the venue is situated in a residential area. This location means that there are understandable restrictions, particularly in the outside or smoking areas, where you're frequently reminded to keep noise levels down, which is quite understandable.
The most impressive part for me was that they're very careful about keeping the number of people balanced inside and not overselling tickets. This helps you to give you enough space for dancing and using the facilities efficiently.
Overall, excellent...
