Probably the most unfriendly staff I have ever encountered, ever. Down from the north of England. Arrived at 10:40 pm. We were enjoying our gins. At 10:57, we were asked to pour our remaining gin out of the glass into a plastic pot. Total bemusement. It turned out we were being kicked out! Wow! He wanted his glasses back and was giving us plastic ones to go outside. This is all before their published closing time. No drinking up time! He professed he didn't want to be rude, but I can't think of anything more rude. Anyway, we just left and walked past a pub 100 yards away full of customers with full pints, happily supping up. BEWARE. Don't expect a friendly welcome here. Retreating north tomorrow. I doubt anyone up there will believe what...

However outside of the gin I find the beer selection pretty narrow and although the place is small and cosy it tends to lack atmosphere on my visits. Either when quiet (makes me want to sleep) or when busy when it just doesn't seem overly pleasant. Just a personal thing but it never makes me want to stay for another drink in the way that other places do! I've been in a few times and it is worth a visit if in the area (definitely if you are after a Gin!), but personally I wouldn't...
