WHITE BRITISH ONLY? I visited with two friends, we got a round of drinks, and sat down at an empty table. Less than 15 minutes later, well before I had finished a large glass of wine, a woman who worked there told us that if we're not ordering another round of drinks we can't take up table space. The absurd thing was that the place wasn't busy so there was no one wanting our table; we had only just arrived so my glass was half full; and we were actually going to order another round of drinks before we were talked down to very rudely. Worse than that, there were two guys at the table next to us who had arrived before us, and they didn't have to deal with this hostility. We had actually made acquaintance with them because they asked us to watch their bags whilst they smoked, and they were as shocked as we were at our treatment. The only difference between us and them is that they were white. Having seen other reviews of this place from people mentioning this rude woman, and hostility if they are not British (we are), it seems like this pub has an unofficial "white British only" rule. I never write online reviews, but this experience was astounding. Never going again.
Edit: To respond to the response from Uxbridge Arms, I don't want to visit again after this experience so I won't be contacting you. There are plenty of places that deserve my custom. If you really want to improve, look at all of your 1 star reviews which seem consistent in mentioning the rude woman working there and hostility to foreigners, and...

The Uxbridge Arms is located in a quiet backstreet in Kensington and sits mid-terrace alongside the pastel painted properties which this area is famous for. Getting here is easy, Notting Hill Tube is a pleasurable five minute walk away. . The pub dates back to 1836 and had an interwar refurb in the 1930’s. The red brick facade stands out from the surrounding houses and the Georgian style windows set a traditional tone. . Once you walk in the door you get the immediate sense of a warm and welcoming boozer. The decor is traditional with dark oak beams, a smattering of brass fixtures and some proper red pub carpet. . There is a good selection of beers including three cask, I had an Asahi which was well received and just over six quid which is cheap for this lager. The food menu is extensive and has an American feel to it alongside traditional British fayre. . This is a locals pub with a superb atmosphere and a real neighbourly down to earth feel. I stood at the bar quaffing my pint and had a nice little chat with a fella who works in the film industry. The Guv’nor was busy serving and chatting to the punters around bar, he mentioned he was in Turner’s Old Star in Wapping a similar locals pub. . The @uxbridgearmsw8 is one of those pubs that you instantly welcome in. This is such a relaxing boozer with a delightful crowd. Get this one on your list people, this is a brilliant boozer. . ℹ️ Info correct on...

I went into this pub for a quiet drink on my own on New Year's Day. I ordered a drink at the bar and then sat down in a side room on my own. After about 10 minutes a white male, grey hair approx age 60 asked two other people if they wanted 'chocolate'. He then turned in my direction and shouted over if I wanted 'chocolate'. I didn't really know what he meant so I politely said that no, I was fine thanks. He came over to me shouting if I wanted chocolate. Then started shouting asking if I was stupid. He kept approaching me and was finally a couple of feet away from me stood over me shouting. The bar staff did not come out from behind the bar to stop him. They just nervously laughed and lamely asked him to leave it. Same with the other two customers. I felt extremely threatened. I didn't know whether he was going to get even closer and make physical contact. Eventually he returned to the bar. A really upsetting experience - both the abuse from this man but also the fact that none of the bar staff moved from their position to move the man away from me.
Reported to the Met Police.
