Truckles — Restaurant in London

Just held a private party here (about 140/150 people over course of day) and couldn’t have asked for a better venue. 1. Food (selection of small bites) was fantastic. I thought the price was reasonable for what was provided and it helps that they have their own kitchen and chef (some bars have to get outside catering) so food is included within minimum spend allowance. Good selection of vegetarian options included. The space is amazing as it has sufficient indoor and outdoor space to deal with any weather. When the sun came out, guests moved outside to the large courtyard and commented it had a very European relaxed feel. In the later evening we moved downstairs for dancing. Location is very central and easy to find/get to by public transport but also feels tucked away and hidden from the noise and bustle of central London. Drinks were very reasonable / good value for money, if you buy wine by the bottle in particular and the drinks service was very good throughout the day and evening. We paid for most of the bar all day and was pleased with how far the budget stretched for so many people. Service from Arran (manager) and the team and general communication was very good throughout, I felt like they were very focussed on making sure the day went well. Was very touched that we had a personal call from the chef days before the event to reassure us that everything was under control with food. Shocking service 14:00 on the 19 Oct) Went to bar to order, was told that she would come and take my order from the table. Said I'd be sat outside. Waited more than 15 minutes. Nobody came to take my.order but waitresses did come outside to deliver an order more than once. They could have seen I was waiting and taken my order, but didn't. Went back inside and explained to same lady behind the bar nobody came. She seemed non-plussed, didn't want to look me in the eye and more or less shrugged her shoulders. Spoke to another waitress hanging around and told asked her what she'd been doing and that she'd been outside and not come to my table. Was told they were very short staffed. However the place wasn't that busy. A group of 5 outside having a beer (no food) and party of 8 having a b'day party outside. But they'd finished ordering their food and drinks and were just doing the bday cake. Then there was another gentleman inside who'd already eaten and was actually ready to go and another table of 4. Milena - a huge thank you, both to you personally and your team for enabling two very successful and highly enjoyable lunches to take place - it was a pleasure dealing with you and despite the pressures you were doubtless under at what is the busiest time of the year for group events, you were very attentive to every detail in ensuring everything went smoothly, including when you were short staffed on Sat 14th - overall the food quality and quantity were extremely good and represent real value for money, which is very much noted and appreciated and the service provided by you and your team was as efficient and friendly as ever, which makes a huge difference for me as the organiser in enabling me to stay calm and relaxed and to also enjoy the occasions with my friends, in full confidence that everything will run...
