This is a very welcome addition to Hammersmith hospitality spaces. The decor & atmosphere is as vibrant and fun as the cocktails. There's a daily happy hour ( check their website) where cocktails/ mocktails are 2 for 1. Just be aware that the quality can vary a little on your duplicate especially with the mocktails. Our second kolada was very watery compared to the first. The food menu has plenty of choices across meat and fish classics like goat curry, vegan burgers are yummy jack fruit which are vastly superior to their beyond mock meat soya cousins. I chose light sides of macaroni cheese(NB garnished with chili đ¶ïžđ„ ouch...had it removed ) and sweet plantain. Great value. My friends sweet potato fries also looked good.
Upstairs are the fun chic shack style toilets. Access via stairs or disabled lift. ( Pace yourself with the drinks if you're seated downstairs) The loos despite the look of the outer metal n wood doors are thoroughly modern , comfortable and private ( see photos) . The whole upper floor has a relaxed island beach vibe befitting the venues name. There's a roof terrace, large booths and l imagine it's a great place for an office party, birthday or anniversary celebration. In fact if you tell them it's your birthday they sing a serenade and bang a kitchen pot to make sure everyone else around you knows too.
There were 3 in the room the first time l visited .. Autistic and sensitive folks should have noise cancelling ear phones at the ready so you can avoid the sudden surge in volume..
Well worth a visit. I wonder if they would consider doing open mic entertainment upstairs. It would be quite a draw,...

Decided to take the family to Turtle Bay for a nice meal. Instead, we got a front-row seat to The Hunger Games: Server Edition.
The staff were efficient, sureâbut only if you consider delivering sarcasm and side-eye a skill. Our server treated us like we'd personally ruined their day just by showing up. Asked for extra napkins? Cue the dramatic sigh. Asked for a second round of drinks? Apparently, I was asking them to swim to the Caribbean to fetch it. At one point, I thought they might slap the jerk chicken right out of my hands.
And the music? Iâm convinced they were trying to break a world record for loudest decibels in a dining establishment. It was so ear-splittingly loud that we had to give up on speaking and resort to interpretive dance to place our order. My dad tried to ask for hot sauce and ended up accidentally doing the Macarena.
The food? Decent, but I wouldnât know because I was too busy dodging the passive-aggressive vibes from the staff and wondering if my eardrums were bleeding.
If you enjoy a meal where the service is spicier than the food and the music makes your molars rattle, Turtle Bay is your dream spot. For me? Next time, I'll just stay home and blast dancehall in my kitchen while my family gives me dirty looks. Same vibe,...
Read moreFirstly, the staff and management were amazing and the service I received was impeccable and faultless. The ambiance was perfect, great music and a great overall vibe.
Now to discuss the âCaribbeanâ food that was served. For the main course I decided to switch things up and go for something different, steering clear of the usual Caribbean classics. I opted for the Mobay Chicken dish which was a grilled chicken breast with a creamy sauce, served with rice and peas. The chicken was tasty and moist and could not fault the rice and peas. Also pictured is the Curry Mutton dish, which both tasted great and was aesthetically pleasing.
My biggest concern was the major disrespect placed to the whole country and population of Trinidad and Tobago in serving what was named âTrini doublesâ. I can confirm that the dish consisted of zero authenticity, from the bara to the cucumber chutney. Extremely disappointing and in my opinion utterly disrespectful.
I was told previously that the food at Turtle Bay lacks in true Caribbean authenticity and I wanted to try myself and give my own opinion. With that being said, I second this statement based on my experience today and unfortunately will not...
