Union Social — Restaurant in London

Booked this place for a pre Abba show. Mistakenly booked a table of 4 instead 5 but staff dealt with it well( luckily two thirds empty at 5pm) unfortunately was down hill from there. Seated away from the rest of the tables so felt like we were ignored all night, underneath cold aircon(in Dec?) which we were informed couldn't be turned off so half of us sat with coats for the duration. Took cocktail orders first(these were great) ordered main courses only, 6 choices on the menu. 5 of us ordered burgers, waitress returned "sorry, no burgers". Would have been nice to know that when we sat down, not hard when there are only 6 mains on the menu. Odd as it was only 5pm but no further explanation was offered. Changed our orders, sat for 15 mins with empy drinks, manager then took over as it was clear when we has to get up to the bar to order drinks that we had been forgotten about. Food was very good, rosemary and salt chips on the side were just just chips but forgetting that is forgivable I suppose. Asked for the bill, they certainly weren't slow offering that and taking payment (would have loved that service from the beginning). All in all disappointing visit with uninterested and blunt staff which for a mainly empty restaurant...

Our Christmas Day at The Gantry was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm, festive ambiance that set the tone for an unforgettable celebration. The food was absolutely divine—every dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and crafted with such attention to detail that it felt like a true culinary treat.

What made our experience truly extraordinary, though, was the impeccable service provided by Davide. He went above and beyond in every way, ensuring that every moment of our visit was perfect. His attentiveness, genuine warmth, and effortless professionalism elevated the entire experience. It’s rare to find someone who takes such pride in their work, and Davide’s exceptional service made us feel genuinely cared for.

We cannot praise The Gantry and its incredible team enough (specifically Davide) for creating such a magical Christmas Day for us.

REASON FOR 2 STARS: I’m staying at the hotel it’s located in and I’ve spent over £300 here. I asked them to heat some food I bought elsewhere and I was told they can’t do it.

UPDATE: went for breakfast and it’s good UPDATE: went back again for lunch and this time the Gantry Burgster was even better. This mint mojito taste like a virgin but it does creep up on you. The day staff is a little more on point than the night staff. For that reason I’m changing my three stars to four. I mean my drink was significantly better today and I can taste the alcohol versus my first time here.

It’s inside of a hotel. Cute little place & nice. DRINKS were totally watered down, I had the pomegranate vodka, I could barely taste the vodka.
