It’s not often you are truly moved by a mere glass of wine… where on earth does one start when putting in to words the care, thoughtfulness and knowledge applied to good wine?

Well, I’m here give it a red hot go.

I was first taken to Pomerlo, a beautiful village near the winery region of St Emilion. It was bold, adventurous and trustworthy. Next, I tried another red from the burgundy region. This one was very spicy and demure. I could go on… but I would be doing a disservice not to mention my server for the evening. Alex (aka “prawn” ((?)) ) metaphorically held my hand and took me on a journey through time and helped me understand where the wine came from. His knowledge was second to none and enabled me to feel normal FOR ONCE. To be honest, it’s been tough since the divorce, but my love for wine has given me energy. Prawn enabled me to have an elegant evening filled with beautiful wine and meaningful connection to the present.

Too much truffle on the menu.

The natural wine selection at Vagabond is a sight to behold, and a beautiful testament to their strive for innovation and style. Alex’s (prawn’s) understanding of varieties and qualities allowed me to truly taste the tannins and fruits associated with fine drops.

Please forgive me for being crass, but Alex reminds me of my gorgeous son. Honourable, courageous, educated and striking.

Would return to this establishment. Order the truffle...

Stepping into Vagabond Wine Bar, I immediately felt the warmth and welcome from the attentive team. It was like being greeted by old friends, making me instantly comfortable. The carefully curated wine selection offered a variety of delightful options, each sip taking me on a personal journey of flavors.

The staff's expertise was impressive, as they effortlessly guided me through the wine list, sharing their passion and knowledge. Their recommendations were spot-on, perfectly complementing my preferences and leaving me eager to try more.

As I savored the wines, I couldn't resist pairing them with the delectable dishes on offer. The artisanal cheese platters and charcuterie were divine, enhancing the wine's flavors and making the experience truly exceptional.

The ambiance at Vagabond was enchanting, with soft lighting and soothing music creating a cozy atmosphere. It was easy to lose track of time, immersed in the delightful company and the joys of exploring new wines.

Vagabond Wine Bar is now a cherished spot for me—a place where I can indulge in my love for wines, enjoy the attentive service of the wonderful team, and relish every moment in the inviting ambiance. If you're a wine enthusiast seeking a personal and unforgettable experience, Vagabond is a must-visit...

Love Vagabond, been a fan of their wine bars since the very first one opened on Charlotte Street a decade ago.

Automatically adding service charge to drink in prices for opening a bottle of red wine I collected myself with glasses I collected myself, whilst providing zero actual service is taking the piss.

Next time I'll bring my own corkscrew.

EDIT: given the response from the establishment below:

Ordering via QR code only provides a limited selection of wines available, if you want something not on the list you have to approach the bar with the bottle (and if it's white the fridge is locked and you have ask them to get it)

Drink in prices should reflect that a discretionary service charge will be applied, remember the whole model of Vagabond is self-service

I never wanted to besmirch the staff but if I ask for the service to be removed, they should remove it rather than being rude and sullen about it

Don't mislead your customers however innocent

Knocking a star off because of the complete lack of acknowledgment of the dichotomy between business...

Generally, I love the Vagabond concept; great place for trying a broad selection of wines. It makes it a brilliant option for a casual afternoon/evening of drinking. The interior is very nice, particularly the upper level by the window. Seeing as it is conveniently placed around Bank and Monument station, it can make for a relaxed afternoon of catching up and people watching. The food is generally good, although, as you would expect from a wine bar, it is not the main event of the place. The service can sometimes leave a bit to be desired, but with that being said, nothing to the degree where it is unpleasant. One tip if you are visiting though, I would stay clear of any of the bottles that only has a 25ml portion available, as you are likely to recover a spluttering of air, rather than wine – which obviously can be a bit frustrating.

Despite its unassuming entrance, inside you'll find a wine lover's paradise or as the delightful Didem, who greeted me on my arrival, put it: "An adult's candy store"! Boasting an eclectic range of quality wines, you'll find at least one for every palate. The self pour machines allow you to purchase a 25ml taste before you take the plunge. The offerings range from the reasonably priced but perfectly drinkable to the more expensive premium 🍷. This serves as an excellent venue for business meetings as well as an after-work get-together. Although I did not try the food, if it proves as good as the wine, I won't be disappointed. Thank you too to Alex, who rounded off my brief but enjoyable visit. I very much look forward to returning soon. 😃

Had a really lovely experience here Friday night meeting a friend. First of all, love the vibe and decor, especially the comfy green couches. LOVE it’s dog-friendly as my little ole man was a hit. Waitresses were very friendly and accommodating to answering questions on how the drink system works. Very impressed with the nibbles: salty, creamy and delicious cod fish balls and a lovely vegan cheese plate. Impressed with the food options. Clean toilets too. Plus no loud music so you can actually have a good conversation. Of course amazing wine selection and love the cheap tastings you can do. However, it’s quite expensive for a 125mL and even more so for a 175mL glass. £9!!!! And up. You’re betting off buying a bottle.
