Came on a Friday as a party of 14 for a pre-booked private room to be told that there was no private room at this venue. We were compensated with a few bottles of prosecco and sat on 2 long tables beside each other. Ordered from the party menu, which had a good mix of options, including vegan. I ordered a starter and a main from the vegan party menu, the soy and ginger tofu and Malay curry. Starters came relatively quickly and mine was delicious, however other members of the party who ordered the halloumi salad from the normal party menu were left a little underwhelmed by the two small cubes of halloumi in their salad. Mains weren't too far behind however an extra cheese and onion pie from the normal party menu was brought out that no-one had ordered, and everyone but me had received their meals. The waiter that took my food order then came out and asked if I had ordered the cheese and onion pie, so I told him no, I'd ordered the Malay curry from the vegan menu. A few minutes later, someone else came out and apologised, said there had been a mix-up and that my food would be a few minutes. Around 10 minutes after everyone else had received their mains, mine came out, however, I had to ask for the flatbreads that were supposed to come with my main. I also ordered a mocktail, and after around 15 minutes of it not arriving, my friend had to ask the same waiter who took my drink order, to chase it up. It arrived another 5 minutes later. Another of the party ordered a bottle of water later on, that had to be chased up after not arriving for 20 minutes. The staff were friendly and the food was tasty, but it wasn't very busy for a Friday night in Manchester city centre, so the level of service was slightly...

The most ridiculous door policy I've ever dealt with. My friend did a walk-in and was sat at a table, I finished work later than him so went to meet him. The doorman asks me 'is it a booking or a walk-in', I explain my friend has a table and he refused me entry saying I have to queue for a table, not understanding my friend already has a table. The queue was probably about an hours wait for people waiting for tables to become available. By this point my friend had ordered food and drinks and I was still refused entry. I called my friend, confirmed to the doorman he was at table 141, my friend even told the waitress who agreed it made no sense so came to the doorman to ask why he wasn't letting me in but the doorman still refused (I guess she wasn't a manager). He was the most illogical and irrational doorman I've ever encountered and even had the audacity to pull the race card on me saying "there are people who are both white and black waiting for a table - do you get what I'm saying" insinuating I was an entitled white man demanding entry. Race had absolutely nothing to do with it I was simply trying to join my friend. In the end my friend had to leave the table he waited for and even leave his uneaten food because of the doorman. This didn't just happen to me it happened to multiple people going to meet friends and there were several groups confused at how ridiculous a policy this was and multiple people gave up deciding to leave. If the establishment reads this and wants to check the rota this happened Thursday 10th August at around 6.30pm - I've no doubt this was an individual egotistical trip and not your actual...

What happened?? This is normally a great place. Went for my wife’s 60th on Saturday 21st May and what a disaster and how disappointed we were. It ruined my wife’s special day. My wife had iBs so needs to eat early. We booked the table for 6.45 and arrived at 6.30 to give them time to get us seated. We got taken into the restaurant at 7.10pm. We were given menus and nobody came back to take our orders, so we had to grab somebody from reception, they took our order and the starters arrived at 7.40 no issues not big portions so they came and cleared everything by 7.55 at 8pm the waiter came and asked if we were ready for our mains and we said yes. At 8.30 mains had not arrived and waiter came over asking if we would like to order deserts, we told him we had not had the mains yet, he disappeared. During this time nobody came to ask if we would like drinks we had to go and get a staff member to take our drinks order. 8.45 still no mains we complained that we had been waiting a long time, they went to check and apologised. 9pm still no mains we complained again, eventually they arrived at 9.15 ( one and a half hours after the starters) my wife left hers as it was to late to eat, mine was cold and hot all our mains were just poor, it was as if they had lost our ticket then rushed to make it. They knocked £60 of the bill, but in my opinion not enough. The whole experience on my wife’s special day was poor, from the staff to the food. I am not saying the place is bad as I would imagine on another day it may be different, but neither me, my friends or family will be taking the chance...

Had a booking with friends for my husband's birthday. When we arrived, we were ignored by all the staff for a full 15 minutes before we were greeted and led to our table, which was very disappointing. However, our order was taken promptly, and both drinks and food arrived fairly quickly. 2 ordered the roast beef, which was delicious, although the yorkshire pudding was missed from both. One had slow cooked beef, and it was again delicious. I wasn't very hungry, so I had mini pie with a side order of bubble and squeak. Although the pie was small, it had plenty of meat in it, and the bubble and squeak was so tasty. The waitress was apologetic about the yorkshire puddings and told us very honestly that she'd forgotten. She then brought a smores martini cocktail to make up for it. This cocktail was so creamy, the marshmallows were crispy on the outside and melty in the middle, and it really was a sweet treat! Then, the waitress brought my husband a chocolate brownie with a huge sparkler in for his birthday. It was the first time we'd been to the castlegate/deansgate locks area, a lovely atmosphere. Lots of christmassy lights made it so pretty, too. All in all, an excellent meal just let down by the initial lack of greeting really. Although our waitress made up for that.
