Every once in a while, you come across a gem that simply stands out from the rest. Gail's Cafe and Bakery in Didsbury is one of those places! 🍞🥐 From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with the irresistible aroma of freshly baked pastries. But what really stole the show for me were their croissants. They are, without a doubt, the most flaky, buttery, and perfectly baked croissants I've ever had! The layers are just so well defined, and each bite is pure bliss.
I've been to many bakeries, but there's something truly special about the care and attention Gail's puts into their craft. The ambience of the cafe is cosy and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and one (or a few) of their delightful pastries. 🍰☕
The staff were super friendly, and I could tell they take pride in their work. I couldn't resist taking a dozen croissants home to share (and secretly hoard) - they were just that good! 🏡💼
If you're ever in Didsbury and have a craving for a world-class croissant, or just want a cosy cafe to relax in, Gail's Cafe and Bakery should be your top pick It's definitely a highlight in the culinary scene of the area. #FreshlyBaked #CroissantHeaven...
Read moreWe were excited to try this place as it looks great and everyone needs more real bakeries in the world. Unfortunately though they don't take cash which is a very very silly move. The abolition of cash is the greatest threat we face right now and for anyone to be actively helping this trend is extremely foolish and dangerous. Without cash we have government controlled digital currency (CBDCs) and we own nothing. Every aspect of our lives will be infinitely controllable and we can be cancelled at the push of a government button. This is already being planned. Rishi Sunak's father in law owns the company that's due to supply the tech for it. Gail's, to not take cash is a seriously bad move. One that we will all come to regret if cash ceases to exist.
Also on a human level, there are people who survive on cash and who maybe don't have a smart phone or are not good with PINS and bank cards, the elderly for example. So you are also discriminating against a big swathe of customers here.
I'd also add that after going in, the loaves of bread are all tiny and the pastrami bagel I ordered then cancelled after I found out they don't take cash looked pretty small and mean for nearly £8.

Read moreAs much as the hype of Gail's has brought more customers into didsbury village. I was intrigued by their baked goods. The other businesses like Caramello and Turkish Place across the road have a unique and exciting atmosphere with brilliant menu variety. I bought 3 almond crossiants, whey butter, ciabatta, and raspberry jam. Love the Raspberry Jam with a lovely hint of rose. Whey Butter was different and a unique flavour, ciabatta was crisp and aerated. However their Crossiants looked insane on the trays. I was expecting an incredible selection of Crossiants. But I was given 3 crushed, squashed, flat almond Crossiants. The flavour wasn't there and they were RAW inside. I used their Raspberry jam to help me enjoy it as best as I can. But very ashamed of Gail's for serving low standard crushed Crossiants to Customers. If you buy Crossiants that are crushed. Don't pay for them. 3 Raw Squashed Almond Crossiants I had to chuck and nearly a £10+ waste of my time. The rest of their items...
