Went in to Lazeeza for a Desi Breakfast - Halva Puri Chana- This is a fairly standard breakfast option found in Longsight with several restaurants/take-aways also offering the same type of Halva Puri Breakfast. One portion consisting of a Plate of Chana with 2no. Puria, and a small dish of Halva and a separate small dish of mixed-onion.
Our usual Go-To place for a Halva Puri Breakfast is Anmols (around the corner) but they were busy with no seating, and decided instead to try Lazeeza.
When we went in, the place was empty and we quickly ordered the Halva-Puri Breakfast option. This is a standard rate of £7 - and is the same price as in Anmols (mentioned earlier).
The breakfast came & it was good. At this point my only criticism would be the lack of Achar with the Desi Breakfast (as they only offered a small dish of mixed/spiced onion).
We eat the plate of Chana quickly and decided to order another plate. At this point I was thinking that the additional plate of Chana (which is of the same size as in the full breakfast option) would 'probably' only cost an extra £3.00-£4.00 - boy was I wrong!!!. They CHARGED ME an additional £7.00 for JUST the plate of Chana!!!!!!!! I mentioned this to the chap behind the counter who told me the additional plate of Chana was larger that is why they charge £7.00 - I DISAGREED and told him that it was the same size.
And the irony is, that we wondered why there were no customers when we went into Lazeeza's for Breakfast - WE know why now!
I asked Anmol's (who are ALWAYS BUSY for their Desi Breakfast) what they charge, and they said - £7.00 Standard Halwa Puri Breakfast (Incl. chana portion, 2no puris, halva, mixed onion & achar). And the Price of an additional portion of Chana = £4.00 !!!!!
Conclusion = For Desi Breakfast AVOID Lazeeza and go to Anmol's Instead (one is ALWAYS busy for desi breakfast), and the...
Read moreDisappointing. I wrote the review below two years ago and said that I would be back. COVID got in the way. This time more or less the same dishes ordered, but the food was totally different to two years ago. The standard of the curries has dropped a lot. My lamb madras was way too tomato-ey, like it was not made with the proper gravy base that takes hours to prepare, and the meat was chewy and gristley. We ordered 4 curries and I think this is the first time ever that none of us finished them. We were all disappointed in one way or another. Only the naans were okay. Shame.
A M A Z I N G !!! So I saw that someone said that it was the best takeaway ever. I am very happy to confirm that I agree with this! I decided to take a risk and not go to the curry mile. Even though it was really busy and I had to wait 30 minutes for my order, when I got home and ate it (3 curries and naans) I was delighted with the quality of all three curries - better than I have had on the curry mile for as long as I can remember. Thank you guys!...
