Oh, honey, let me spill the tea about the absolute gay-mazing night I had at "Oscars," the fierce musical theatre gay bar right in the heart of Manchester! Let me tell you, it was a rainbow extravaganza that had me living my best queer life!
Now, hold on tight, 'cause I gotta gush about Evan, the blue-haired diva behind the bar! Girl, they were not just slaying those drinks, they were turning them into works of art. Sippin' on their concoctions was like sipping on a cocktail of rainbows and glitter!
But, oh, it didn't stop there! Evan was pure queer magic, with a personality that could light up the whole damn dance floor. They were serving up drinks with a side of sass and charm, and I was living for it!
You know how sometimes you walk into a place and just instantly feel like you belong? Well, "Oscars" was that place. The LGBTQ+ love and acceptance were palpable, and the vibes were on point. It was like a big ol' gay family reunion, and Evan was the fabulous host!
And, girl, when the music started bumping, Evan took center stage, leading us all in a fabulous dance party. The energy was electric, and we were all living our queerest lives on that dance floor!
I gotta give props to the rest of the staff too; they were all fabulous and made us feel like the queens and kings we truly are. But Evan, honey, they were the cherry on top of the gayest sundae ever!
So, if you're looking for a queer-tastic night out in Manchester, "Oscars" is the place to be. And when you get there, make a beeline for Evan, the fierce blue-haired mixologist who'll have you living your best gay life in no time!

Read moreWhilst I agree that the tunes in this bar are great and create a highly enjoyable atmosphere, I have been on two separate occasions and found it quite uncomfortable. Firstly, went on New Year''s Eve and as a person with mild arthritis in my hip, I found it difficult, at first, to sit comfortably and safely on the high bar stools. As I struggled to get on the stools, one of the bar staff wrongly assumed I was drunk and I was asked to leave the bar because, I was told, I was too drunk. No consideration was made of my explanations.
I have further been this evening, a quiet Thursday and, firstly, as has been mentioned, this is an underground bar. The steps down are quite steep and the first four or five only have a rope banister to support balance on the way down. I felt quite unnerved on the way down. Once inside the bar, I again had the similar issues of trying to sit down on the high bar stools. It is disappointing that there is no lower option of seating. Whilst I do not at all consider myself disabled with only mild arthritis, this visit showed that this was not at all a disable-friendly venue.
This visit was finally ruined by the air conditioning which was set far too high. Considering it is in Manchester, it was warmer stepping outside in the rain than sat inside the bar. It is a shame this bar was so uncomfortable because, as previously mentioned, the music is fun, albeit a little repetitive, the atmosphere is great and the prices...
Read moreWe popped in here last night for a few drinks. There was an "ACT" on, which we weren't aware of before hand.
We weren't exceptionally loud but yes, we were talking whilst drinking our overly expensive drinks.
The lady from the door came down and said people had complained and could be quieter during the 2nd half of the performance. We apologised and agreed that we would make every effort to not make excessive noise whilst they were on.
Then before they act came back out, the barman came over and said the "act" were not comfortable coming back on while we were in the bar. And asked us to leave.
The act was dreadful anyway, but that said, we didn't make a lot of noise during their performance. We were not drunk and are not rude so gave them the respect they deserved. But they really weren't up to much.
This bar is the most expensive the in Canal Street and for some reason they think that just because they rip people off, that they can also treat them badly. Well they can't.
They are outrageously pretentious. This bar is nothing special and they have no right to treat people the way they do.
I wouldn't go here again if you paid me. A dreadful place and a dreadful experience.
The only positive I could say is that the lady on the door was extremely pleasant when she spoke to us. Not the usual heavy handed manner that some of the door staff tend to have.
All in all, A GREAT PLACE...
