My friends and I were in Newyork Newyork club last Thursday and while we had a good night and love the club we were sadly subjected to sexual harassment by a male in the club. Whilst I was dancing with my friends a man came up behind me and touched my bum, when I turned around there was a man in a white shirt stood behind me smiling therefore I pushed him, as I was so shocked at what just happened to me. My friends saw this immediately and asked me if I was okay, at the time I was so shocked I felt okay. I took my complaint to the bar and notified one of the bar staff that not only had he done this to me but he had also done this to two of my friends (one male and one female) the barman asked me to notify security of what had happened therefore I went outside to speak to security. This is where the issue now stems - I very calmly told the security staff that a man had touched mine and my friends bums. The security gaurd came inside with me and asked me to point out the culprit which I was able to do, he was stood to the right hand corner of the bar nearest to the entrance. After watching him a while the security gaurd led the culprit from the venue - and I was happy to see he was removed after the security guard had what looked like a calm conversation. However, not long after the man returned to the bar to try and get in, alone as he was previously, now I would have thought given three people had been subjected to sexual harassment in the club security would fulfil their responsibility in ensuring this man was removed and the people in the club remained safe however this was not the case the man was allowed back in the bar. One of my friends was outside smoking whilst the man approached the bar and watched him to in and queried with security whether they were letting this man back in to which he replied “yeah, I am just going to stick him in a corner”. This was majorly surprising to me and my friends given what the man in question had done is a crime. I am sending this message not only to highlight the major lack of safeguarding that was there for those in the bar that might but also to highlight the lack of professionalism and understanding from your security staff. I also believe the bar staff could have been more active in this role.
We came into the bar around 1:00 AM on may 1st 2025. I hope you take this and notify your staff to do better. I have been in contact with Newyork Newyork therefore they are fully aware of the issue. I was told this would be backed on the following Tuesday, as there was a bank holiday. After messaging to check to see if this had been investigated by management I have received no reply despite having quick replies previously. Its a shame to see in the reviews that this is not the first time an issue of this...
Read moreMe and my friends booked a bingo night with Funny Boyz for the time we were in Manchester. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing for us and was not up to our expectations. First of all, the booking said from 18 till 21:30. We were there at 18 and were told that we were very early. Then all of this hen parties started to come in. (I guess we missed that this was actually a straight girls party.) At around 19 we made it to our table, but then we realized that the bingo would not be starting very soon. The music : who let the dogs out and MacD, KFC and the Pizzahut. None of these songs will be played at a gay venue, but I guess that suits the taste of hen parties. The music was also very loud, that made it very annoying to sit there with your fingers up your ears. Then the "comedy" started. A drag queen with a d*ldo out while other queens lick it, pure comedy that we didn't see before. Still the bingo didn't start yet, two hours have passed and in the mean time all we could do is order drinks as that obviously the main goal of letting you wait for so long. None of the queens came to interact with us and focussed on the brides of the hen parties. We looked at our bingo card and it was as tiny as a stamp, if you had any 3 numbers it was a bingo. So even the bingo itself must have been boring to sit around and wait for the one number on your card to be called out. The prizes you could win? A dinner for two, a round of drinks or whatever, all of the prizes you can only spend in the venue itself. We left before the bingo even started, which we paid 28 pounds for. The venue itself was also very dark and outdated, and lights in toilet didn't work.
Conclusion: gays don't go here, unless you love hen parties. You will be having a great...
Read moreI'm gonna give it to it straight as a journalist and a radio presenter who attended Manchester Pride for the first time, I only went to this bar for the first time to use the toilet and upon first impression after queueing up for god knows how long, has got to be the most unhygienic and most cramped toilet I've ever seen in Manchester. Heck, it's even smaller than my current bedroom! I WAS going to use it but then upon looking at the state, I immediately left in disgust. You're better off going to the toilets outside of this bar like per se, the toilet at the Le Ville Hotel, the toilets at Pixel Bar Manchester or the toilets in any of the NQ64 Arcade Bars. To make matters worse, there are absolutely no accessibility toilets at the New York New York bar which is a massive red flag and an offense towards disabled people.
Le Ville Hotel charges you £1 to use the toilet but at least, it's kinda cleaner and the toilet is a little bit more roomy. Not to mention, it's better than nothing and unlike the other gay bars, the toilet at Le Ville Hotel tends to have a short queue.
I am SO NOT returning to the New York New York bar to use the toilet if I ever attend Manchester Pride next year if they still don't have the decency to clean the...
