I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Banyan Tree in Castlefield, and I must say it was an absolute delight from start to finish. This is a hidden gem ! it is an independent family run bar hiding behind the converted church .
The staff at Banyan Tree were the true stars of the show. From the moment I walked in, their warmth and friendliness made me feel right at home, real northern hospitality. Their attentiveness and dedication to providing great service were truly commendable. It's clear that the team at Banyan Tree takes pride in creating a welcoming atmosphere for every guest and makes them feel at home.
The restaurant has undergone noticeable improvements over the years, thanks to thoughtful updates to the interior some of which has been hand built by the owners. The atmosphere is cozy, inviting and relaxing . The design reflects a commitment to creating a comfortable space for locals to enjoy their experience.
The menu boasts a diverse selection of dishes, catering to a range of tastes. I had the fillet steak which I asked to switch out the truffle mash with dauphinoise potatoes ( i cant stand the flavor of truffle) which they happily did. if your in the mood for some small dishes to share they have options for that too
I wholeheartedly recommend Banyan Tree to anyone seeking a relaxed space with northern hospitality and tasty food . p.s Also pet friendly inside and have a little...
Read moreInitial impressions were fab, walked in through the corn exchange. Disappointed as first staff member I encountered said I needed to speak to the host (fair enough) . I then dragged my two kids through whole restaurant to find said host, asked for the table we had originally spotted to be told its a 15min wait. Don't know who hostess was or who was serving inside the corn exchange but I nearly walked. Redeemed by the guy who said sit here and poppy the waitresses my LO thought she was fab. Annoyances - lax hostess Long service time not wait staff but kitchen Husband had skeweres no extra warnings that the skeweres are hot to the kids or anyone at the table. Final impressions - lovely place nice food, if you don't look the part the. Staff can be abrasive especially the hostesses. Food good borderline mediocre especially for the price standard beers and wine...
Read moreI came here for some breakfast at my break time, I was greeted cheerfully and taken to a seat, my first impression was the one my hands made in the table, it felt like a pub table from the 90s, greasy and sticky. Yuck. I ordered the small breakfast, bacon, egg, tomato, mushroom beans and toast, and a tea. The best thing by far was the tea! The bacon was clearly kept warm and had gone like cardboard, putting the beans in a small bowl does not improve the flavour, the sausage however was good, and the egg nicely cooked. Now the price, it cost me £10.50 for one egg, one bacon, one sausage, one egg, one hash brown, and one peice of toast with a tiny bowl of beans. I really don't mind paying good money for good food, but sad to say this was average food. I hope either the quality of food increases, or the prices decrease, or I shall not be coming back...
