February 2020 update: Now doing Sunday Lunches at a an incredible price of £7.50! Also showing the 6 Nations rugby. 2019 update. Attended a friend's 60th birthday do and once again Stacy (landlady) along with her team did us proud. The pub was refurbished in 2017. A good selection of Holt's ales are usually on tap. Very reasonable prices for a city centre pub. Had my 60th birthday party here during July 2017. We enjoyed a buffet prepared by Stacy and there was plenty to eat. Plus some of my friends went up several times as the food was tasty! Most days apart - from Monday they do hot food till about 18:00 hrs ish. Excellent value especially as they are tummy filling sized portions and moreish. Steak and ale pie is my favourite! This pub is like a friendly local but within central Manchester. Always worth a visit. Also seems to be popular with Northern European visitors e.g. Norway especially when Man United or Man City...

Me and my good lady visited this pub Friday afternoon 1st July 2022. Let me tell you this is probably one of the best Manchester city centre pubs that you can go in. The Holts bitter is as good as it gets. Darren who was serving behind the bar made our day with nice, funny conversation and knew our round of drinks every time including when one of our friends turned up. It is a pub where everyone is so friendly. We got talking to various people having good conversation. The pub is managed by Mark and Stacy who work tirelessly to keep the pub nice and clean and running seamlessly. Mark even took the trouble of finding us a third chair because we were one short for our friend and there were not any spare chairs downstairs where we were sat. The pub offers a good selection of beers with homemade food too. The location is spot-on too for all the other...

Rather nice traditional pub in downtown Manchester (a short walk from Piccadilly Gardens), owned by Joseph Holt brewery. Unsurprisingly, they offer a nice selection of their cask ales - admittedly not quite the best in Britain - plus guest beers. The robust barmaid was friendly enough. It's not a huge place and can get very busy even outside of peak hours. Unfortunately my first choice, Joseph Holt "SIXEX", had gone bad, with a distinctly vinegary taste and smell. It can happen (casks, once opened, are good for only three days), but it certainly shouldn't happen if the beer is from the brewery that owns the place! Also, while the barmaid agreed with my complaint and immediately offered a replacement, she didn't take the bad beer off the bar afterwards, waiting for a new customer to be disappointed. That shouldn't...

This British pub is a fantastic and well-liked establishment that offers an extensive selection of beer and delectable cuisine. The staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Even when the pub was at full capacity, we were warmly received as a group of ten, and the attentive staff promptly arranged a table for us. They provided us with exceptional service and served us with delicious pub food and drinks that were nothing short of outstanding. We had an outstanding experience and would strongly recommend this pub to anyone seeking a wonderful genuine British dining and drinking experience.

Darren behind the bar (short, chubby, wee fella) charged me four times for a two dashes, I asked Darren why, I was told; “that’s just what we do”. My friend paid double for his dash aswell. I thought this was odd so I stood at the bar, another customer ordered a spirit and dash, who only paid for one, when I asked why, Darren said “because he’s only drinking soda”… I thought I heard him asking for a spirit, could be my mistake. However, when my other friend was served by the older gentleman behind the bar, he was not charged double for a dash. Very confusing
