Please grab a chair. Discovered this place thanks to TikTok, and on this one I really got it right. It was my first day in Manchester and thanks to this place I’m considering moving there permanently. I read some of the reviews and someone said the cheese steak was nothing compared to the honey chicken and personally I agree. I got both of them the cheese steak and the honey chicken. The cheese steak is very very meaty and super well seasoned, personally for me it could do with a little more sauce. The honey chicken was amazing and very juicy. While eating both of this sandwiches, it made me forget the grey days in the past 11 days I spent in the UK for holidays, it made me forget that me and babe where fighting and we nearly made a baby, got me making plans to move to Manchester permanently, I don’t know if there was Red Bull in it because it gave me all kind of wings. The place is located in a shady ally way but it’s actually very easy to find. I didn’t know really how to navigate concerning the order so I did everything thru the website, order and pay. I was even able to ask them to push up the pickup time and they agreed. Picking up the order there is a bell at the window, I guess you can order there also, I forgot to ask, because the guy that came to the window was so nice, the most smiling Asian that I have seen (I’m sorry if I’m assuming the ethnicity) I was distracted with mood, energy and smile that I forgot to ask for the name but I feel like me and him could be friends, best of friends. When I told babe that both of the sandwiches added up to 28£ he was asking me what kind of sandwiches was I buying, when we started eating we noticed how heavy it was, that’s how packed they were, I don’t believe this joint knows the phrase “stingy with ingredients”. The price is nothing compared to the size of the sandwich. There is something about that bread 🥖 so so soft and I don’t even know what words to use to describe. Got my baby asking if I left a 50% tip😳😂 and saying they are not charging enough. If you got to the end of this, you should already be dressed and on your way there, I’m really serious about my food, and when it touches all chambers of my heart I will make it clear. So if you were having doubt don’t.

To all those saying they don’t like having to wait To all those saying it’s expensive To all those saying they don’t like where it is …. You’re all wrong. This is, without doubt, the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Period. We walked into town (me, my wife, my 2 sons and the dog) along the canal after ordering our sandwich 6 days prior. I read the hype and I wanted a bit. We got the honey chicken and the Philly cheesesteak and said we’ve have half of each My god…. We sat in Chinatown and tucked into the first half. I had the chicken and within minutes I was covered in hot honey chicken goodness. One napkin didn’t get me through the first bite. The bread is so soft and tasty. The chicken - wow. Even the crinkle cut chips are bang on. The wife said the chilly cheesesteak was the best she’s ever had (*don’t know how many she’s had so hard to quantify) We carefully wrapped up the remaining halves and headed back for the Utd match. I was planning on having my cheesesteak half at half time but could wait. The chips went into the air fryer on reheat and the sando went on the other side (yeah you read right, I’m sporting a ninja) Just had the Philly half making very loud, audible moaning noises which will no doubt make the neighbours wonder what was in the bag. Luckily I’m all set up with kitchen roll so this was a breeze. Flavoursome, wholesome, and then some. The crispy onions on the top are like little pellets of love. Without doubt the best sandwich(es) I’ve ever had in my lifetime. And I once made a bourbon biscuit and snickers ice cream butty on 2 orange warbies crusts. Bravo, Pat. I think I love you

To begin with, the meat, which should be the shining star of any cheesesteak, was a woeful letdown. What I received was entirely lacking in flavour and was as though the chef had never heard of the concept of marination or seasoning. Moreover, the cheese was applied with such carelessness that it overwhelmed the entire sandwich. It was as if they had dunked the entire concoction in a vat of cheese. There should always be a delicate balance but the mark was missed big time. Now, let's discuss the bread. The foundation of any great sandwich, the roll should be fresh, soft on the inside, and slightly crusty on the outside. Fat Pat's version, on the other hand, was a disappointment. It was dry and did not complement the contents of the sandwich at all. And if that weren't enough, the accompanying fries were equally disappointing. They arrived dry, crunchy, and bereft of seasoning. For the price, one of the worse value for money takeout experiences I’ve had. As for the atmosphere, you’re waiting next to literal bins when you show up on time and the food is still 15 minutes late. The stench in the air is mad. A combination of bin odour and the smell of food being blown out by the fan. Wild. You’re also expected to wait half an hour and I ended up waiting 50 mins in total. I wouldn’t have minded if the sandwich was good and well put together but this looks like it was made in 2 to 3 minutes at most. For £17, it’s absolutely safe to say you do not get your money’s worth, at least not in my experience. Overrated, overpriced and overhyped. Would not recommend.

There are so many issue that I can think of when it comes to this place but I’ll start off with the food. First of all from the initial bite, I was overwhelmed with too much salt, the sauce really didn’t accompany the beef well at all, there was an excess amount of grease, the cheese was clearly cheap and quality and the bread was stale. You can tell they tried to save it by soaking it up with the grease but in reality it ended up soggy and stale at the same time. Astonishing how that happens. It’s impressive at how bad this Philly Cheesesteak was. The beef felt as though there was no sear to it and had a boiled texture, as if they were just trying to overload the sandwich to make it look good to attract customers that have no idea what good food is even if it slapped them in the face. The fries… no seasoning to them, dry texture and too crunchy, it felt like I had crinkle cut chips mixed with walkers French fries. The only good thing from the meal was the canned spring water. The entire sandwich gets a 1/10. My stomach still hurts from it and I really struggled to sleep last night from the bad stomach cramps I had. Even though that was the last thing I ate yesterday, so I know it’s because of that.

Now let’s talk about the pricing. 17 pounds. 17 GBP. 17 STERLING GREAT BRITISH POUNDS FOR THIS???? It genuinely hurts me that this is that much, for an overhyped, overrated meal that has been gassed so much by influencers that clearly have no idea what they’re talking about when it comes to food. I genuinely went in with no expectations either so I don’t get my hopes up from all the hype and the fact that Fat Pats underdelivered and went way below my expectations despite having none, really speaks volumes on this place. I felt scammed and robbed by an institution that doesn’t even display their hygiene rating on the small window in the crack alley they reside in.

Which leads onto my next point. The location. Down some crack alley in china town, surrounded by bins and having to order the food from the website and wait 30 minutes just for you to wait an extra 10 when it’s time to actually pick the order up? It’s comical that it takes Fat Pats to make a sandwich in 40 minutes. Despite being busy which is understandable, this is a collection based process which honestly shouldn’t take more than 25 minutes. And you serve THAT to customers after waiting for 40 minutes? There really is no shame or decorum in this institution. Waiting outside whilst your nostrils get violated by the scent of bin juice and food being wafted in your face from the extractor fan, mixed with smoke from people waiting for this overrated garbage, really isn’t something I’d recommend for those that like to smoke crack. Regardless to the general public.

Do better Fat Pats. You’re scamming people with atrocious food and you think you’re quirky for having yourself based down a crack alley because you want people to say “the best places to eat are the ones that look the sketchiest” the reality is that you tried too hard in that aspect and ultimately shot yourselves...
